"The NFL announced official 2019 Pro Bowl rosters Tuesday evening, and the San Francisco 49ers have two players in the initial roster for the postseason all star game, and three alternates. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is a starter and tight end George Kittle is a reserve. Defensive lineman DeForest Buckner, kicker Robbie Gould, and linebacker (specialist) Mark Nzeocha were selected as alternates."

I assume Ertz is the starter for TE.

That's correct

Those two are also in on reputation.

Disagree there. Every time I watch them they wreck havoc. Cox is Donald-lite with the amount of pressure he puts on and Hicks is leading the #1 defense in the league along with Mack.

It just feels wrong Buckner hasn't gotten in the last two years, but can't also complain about Cox/Donald/Hicks making it over him. They were legitimately great themselves.

What everyone should be upset with is Chris Jones not getting in. Now that was just wrong.

I don't. Buckner has more sacks, tackles, and tackles for loss than both. He's not on the roster because of reputation alone (both individual/team). It's not to say that Cox/Hicks aren't playing well, but they certainly aren't playing as well as Buckner.

Agreed on Chris Jones.

I honestly think that PFF now has a huge impact with regards to things like this. Cox and Hicks are absolutely pff darlings, where as Buckner is liked, but not loved.

I mentioned this last week, but I felt Buckner was better last year than last year despite having better sack numbers. Last year dude was just on another level. He's been great this year as well but I don't think he's been better though. I remember games where he would have like four or five QB hits but no sacks to show for. This year he's finishing more on his sacks and then just flat out getting some fortunate hustle sacks. Those are always tricky and vary year from year.

But I don't care about Cox and Hicks being PFF darlings, they are flat out beasts period. You can't watch an Eagles or Bears game and not see those two having a huge impact on the game. Cox legitimately may be the closest thing to Donald we have in the league. Every game he's generating an insane amount of pressures and Hicks is just dominant in the pass and run game.

Buckner had a pro bowl caliber season, but so did those two. Sometimes it is just that way.

Agreed. I have no issue with him being an alternate. I'm actually slightly more upset that Kittle is the reserve to Ertz to be honest.

But yeah, the interior defensive line is just so stacked in the NFL right now. You can't even argue the selections as is. Buckner absolutely has a case, but so do the other guys. There are bigger "snubs" than Buckner tbh.

Hicks has been dominant all year, this is after the 2 previous years being dominant and not even getting an alternate.

I believe he was only 5th in fan voting, so he was put in by coaches and players.

I am not sure about the Cox vs Buckner argument. I am interested to see him against the Bears after they put Donald into witness protection when we played them.

I mean to be fair on the Donald part, you guys also double and even sometimes triple teamed him quite a bit. Proved to be a smart strategy but not like he had many one on one opportunities.

But totally agree on Hicks. He didn't get picked because of reputation, he got picked because he has been that damn dominant. Cox has been similarly dominant in his own right as he always is.
