Film Study Touts Colts' O-Line

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd share this. Written by a guy who covers the Giants for SB Nation. Like most of us Giants' fans, he's bitterly envious. Kudos on your vastly-improved offensive line, by the way. Pretty sur they'll crush the Giants come Sunday.

"You could make an argument against the Indianapolis Colts’ offensive line as the most improved unit in football this season, but you better be pretty good at arguing. Indianapolis ranks 12th in offensive DVOA, 10th in yards per drive, and sixth in points per drive. Much of that success can be pinned on the big guys up front.

The easy thing to say is how big a deal the addition of Quenton Nelson, the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has been. That is true, but not nearly the whole story. Indianapolis has been great just about everywhere on the line both in run and pass blocking."

Good read

Things have certainly come around since last year. Last year our QBs (Tolzien and Brissett) were sacked 50+ times. With 2 weeks to go we are tied for 1st in the league in only allowing 16 sacks.

We had some growing pains earlier in the year LT Castonzo missed 3-4 games, we then lost RG Mark Slauson for the season and we were unstable at RT.

After Braden Smith took over at RT, Mark Glowinski took over at RG and Castonzo returned things turned around almost immediately.

We have since had Ryan Kelly miss a couple games and RG Mark Glowinski missed a game but have had no fall out from it.

Several things have went in the making of this line. As alluded above, Kelly is a great center. The addition of Nelson and Smith seemed to bring a nasty attitude to Castonzo and Kelly. They seemed to pride themselves on not just winning the LOS, but punishing.

After decades as a Colt fan, it is a pleasure to watch.
