  1. 1. Hypothetical trade: would you send Kirk Cousins to the Bills for their 2018 & 2019 1sts?

    • I'd consider it, but the price isn't right.

So, I was killing some time and I noticed that the Bills had a thread regarding LeSean McCoy trade rumors.

So, I wander by just out of curiosity (and for fantasy purposes). There's nothing to see there ...

BUT

I decide to be silly and make an offhand comment about making up a rumor that the Bills were going to offer their 2018 1st and 2019 1st for Kirk.

To my surprise, I got this:

So, I guess I'll ask: would you do it? We know full well that Colt McCoy and Nate Sudfeld cannot lead this team. The franchise would be trading the best quarterback to suit up in burgundy and gold in 25 years. But, the Redskins would have the Bills 1st and their own natural pick (which is likely to be high up in the draft given what we'll see on the field this year), and the 2018 draft class could be pretty solid for QBs.

Would you ship Kirk and tank?

I wanted to trade Kirk cousins but I don't know , let's face facts we never had great quarters backs ever in the franchise since slinging Sammy but that was like the 40s.

id like to keep cousins for a long time I think he's enough to win a Super Bowl , the defense has to contribute tho because cousins is built for many touchdowns and comebacks but the big games shatter him sometime.

FYI would love Shady McCoy our running backs have been terrible .

While that may be true, I doubt the Bills are shipping McCoy.

We could send Tyrod back to you guys for something... Jordan Reed?:D

Umm, no. However, I would entertain a side trade of Tyrod for Vernon Davis.

I think this trade is rather unlikely since they just traded up for Sammy Watkins a few years ago and it didn't work out for them.  Also Buffalo seems to be in full rebuild mode and are trying to accumulate picks, not trade them away.

Hypothetically though, if we were offered that for Cousins I would take it.  I wouldn't have prior to this offseason, but since we didn't sign Cousins to an extension, and I'm fully convinced our FO has royally pissed him off I think he's gone in FA next year.  So better to get a great haul for him than just let him walk IMO.

I am not a Captain Kirk hater but 2 1st rounders with our own being top 3 without Kirk mean we are in good position for drafting a new QB.Only problem is trusting out personnel dep. to find  a good QB in the draft lol.I personally think KC will bolt if they dont franchise him again and I would rather get something for him .Do not have to tank with the real McCoy or Suddzy under center. They will suck lol.

The Bills, after trading Watkins and Darby (the latter I do not understand personally) look to be in a sort of rebuilding mode.  I do not think Kirk Cousins fits their timeline of having someone to build around for their long-term future, and they're also going to be invested heavily in this upcoming draft class.

I want to see what Cousins does this year.  If he does well and leads us into the playoffs, extend the guy.  If not, the draft will provide us with a very good replacement, as the position is stacked in the draft.

IF the Bills traded for him, they don't have the ability to sign him to a new deal, correct?

Correct, not until next year becusse Cousins has passed the deadline to sign a deal before his franchise tag contract becomes official.

I think that'd be too much to give up for a guy that isn't signed beyond this year.  Maybe something like a conditional 2nd in 2018 and a conditional 4th in 2019?  The 2nd becomes a 1st if the Bills advance so far in the playoffs and/or he re-signs with Buffalo.
