The “Boss” hasn’t spoken to him yet. Must mean that there is at least consideration to blowing it all up

Let’s be real, if anybody was getting fired it would’ve happened by now. There isn’t a damn soul who would take this job knowing Bruce is running the show. Everything is going to stay exactly the same.

If Gruden is out, then it's going to mean he's going out along with Allen.  Heck, Allen's firing may not even mean Gruden goes.  Right now, if the Redskins fire Gruden, they are one of nine teams looking for a new head coach, in a market that is devoid of great candidates, so the chances are even higher of getting a retread.  If Allen is fired or reassigned and a new GM comes in, depending on the search for that GM, hiring a new coach may not fit the timeline of that person, or how they want to review the operation.

It's weird to type it, but surveying the coaching landscape right now, I think Allen has a better chance to be fired than Gruden.

And with this news, the Redskins are mathematically eliminated from the 2019/2020 season's playoffs.

IF we're tanking, that's fine with me, it's the mediocrity which bothers me.  The Orioles are being up front about their rebuild, and I will gladly keep my season tickets to watch a different kind of baseball, whereas in the past they still spent money and "attempted" to compete, similar to what the Redskins do.  Just be up front with the fans about your plans, and it is OK to tank to get better.

Quote

“On Black Monday in the NFL when eight head coaches got fired, Jay Gruden did not.

The Redskins decided to bring back their head coach despite a second consecutive 7-9 record, and the case for his continued employment is simple.”

"There’s always going to be change," Gruden said. "We anticipate that happening. I don’t know where it’s going to be or how we're going to do it, but there will be changes I'm sure."

“It's too early to know what will happen, but Gruden is confident of one thing: change will come. “

There is still hope!!
