BwickRedux
Here it is boys! (and remember that Hue has previously stated that whoever plays first in Tampa is likely to be the week 1 starter) I support the call - Deshone has shown he is blossoming into the NFL and I'm sick of discussing not having him start solely based on fear of Pittsburgh. Let's see the kid play! Edited August 23, 2017 by BwickRedux
MWil23
I'm 100% in favor of this for a few reasons: 1. Brock has done nothing thus far to show he's clearly better than Kizer. Advantage always goes to the rookie over a 6 year vet in these situations, especially with mediocre at best career numbers. 2. I'd like to see what Kizer has all year this year with multiple 1sts again next year and 3 very highly touted QB's available next year most likely (Darnold, Rosen, Allen). 3. Kizer has shown flashes of looking very solid, although he's had rookie moments too (every young QB does it seems). 4. The OL he has in front of him is very capable and solid, so we don't have to worry about him getting worked ala David Carr. 5. For some reason, I've thought all along irrationally that Brock was being showcased in a few games and if he was moderately successful, they'd try to pawn him off for a draft pick/player on another team, eat a portion of his salary, and dump a portion of his salary. LETSGOBROWNIES
The only logical choice. Who else was it going to be? Osweiller? Brock must have tried to tell Hue, "but wait, there's more!" When there clearly wasn't....

sdrawkcab321
Kinda.. Hue gave himself an out by saying he has a chance to win it.

I guess, but that would reek of incompetence. 3 guys getting first team reps this summer is already bad enough, wasting the dress rehearsal game on a guy who isn't the week one starter would be asinine. killin' it like ki7er
You can't announce a quarterback competition and not give the go ahead to the one that has clearly surpassed the others, sends the wrong kind of message. Hue has busted his *** to get Kizer to the point of being as ready as can be if Osweiler or Kessler didn't step up and claim the job. They didn't, so Hue's protege will be put to work. Good luck kid. cortes02
In my opinion, the Browns win either way with Kizer being named the starter. If he succeeds while going through the gauntlet of the regular season then Hue looks like a genius. If Kizer fails, then the Browns will have a very high draft pick to choose their true franchise QB. Brock/Kessler just didn't do enough to keep Kizer off the field as the starter. Peace!!!

buno67
I'm sorry when it's a QB completion and the vet barely does anything to separate themselves from the rookie, the rookie deserves to win it. To me kizer and Brock are on the same tier but kizer has much higher projection.

JMHO #4 is a great point. He's also going to have a decent ground game as well. I think that it could potentially be a situation similar to what Dak Prescott went through last year. Crowell in a contract year has the potential to be dynamic. Our O-line has the potential to be one of the top ones in the league. Both of those things could (and hopefully will) contribute to Kizer having some success. (I think our defense might be better than Dallas' defense was last year.)
