The other thing that Coach Flores recently stated is that he will use the 4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5, 3-2-6, based on what the opposing offense is doing. He said that the defense will be very fluid, and schemes will change weekly based on opponent. So the secondary will have to be able to play both man and zone, and LB's and D-line have to be scheme versatile. This is what is fueling the speculation that much of our core defensive players from last year will be gone.

The core defensive players are not scheme versatile? I bet Flores keeps way more defensive players than most expect. And suddenly the defense is massively improved next season. Scheme matters!

I’m keeping an eye on UF edge rusher Jachai Polite.  He’s about 15 lbs lighter than teams would prefer but he shows elite burst off the LOS, displays a blinding quick spin move, elite closing speed, nice ice pick to counter move from outside in, and excels at strip sacks.  This guy dominates in games against big time SEC talents.

I expect him to run a sub 4.6 forty at the combine, and if he shows up at 250lbs instead of 240 then he will be my number 1 3-4 OLB prospect........sound like strong words?????  I encourage you to check out his scouting reports.

I'm a Polite fan as well, assuming we are indeed moving to more of a 3-4.  He can be a really nice pass rusher, I think. Obviously he isn't a great fit as a 4-3 DE due to his size, but it does appear that the switch will happen.

With all the rumors potentially linking Kyler Murray to Kingsbury in Arizona, would you guys trade #13 for Josh Rosen?  I loved Rosen last year in the draft, but he looked pretty iffy this past year.  Granted, he was indeed playing on a bad team with bad coaching though.

Hey what's up everyone! I am new to the thread, love reading what you guys post so I finally decided to sign up!

This draft HAS to be D-line, pass rusher, and interior O-line as top priority. If we continue to fail in that, whichever kid we get at QB will not succeed and Flores knows, without a top 10 defense, we will not thrive and be competitive.

I have been back and forth between DT Jefferey Simmons or DT Christian Wilkins with the 13th pick but now with Simmons out for the year, I would love to get Wilkins 1st pick as he would help transform our defense and be the anchor Suh was supposed to be.

Mock draft 1.0

1st pick- DT Christian Wilkins (Clemson)

2nd pick- DE Joe Jackson (UM)

3rd pick- G Michael Jordan (Ohio State)

4th pick- C Ross Pierschbacher (Roll Tide)

5th pick- CB Jamal Peters (Mississippi State)

6th pick- QB Brett Rypien (Boise State)

7th pick- WR Travis Fulgham (Old Diminion)

What do you guys think?

Welcome aboard!

I agree wholeheartedly about addressing the lines first, and I LOVE that you have them taking a QB somewhere this year (despite all the hooplah about them picking one next year).  It would depend entirely on who else was available at each pick, but the positions look good.

If the Flacco deal happens with the Broncos then the Giants and Jags could be the only 2 teams to draft a QB before Miami picks, they have the 6 and 7 picks so if their is a QB Miami falls in love with is it possible to move from 13 to 5th and would it be worth it?

Daniel Jones is, honestly, the only QB in this draft class I really want anything to do with.
