if the Saints make the playoffs with Carr in the worst division in football, what does that really prove? Lol Carr isnt a terrible QB. He just wasnt the problem or the solution.

I think for me the barometer isn’t making the playoff, but rather how far can he take the Saints into the playoffs.

That he wasnt the reason we sucked and that in different circumstances(better franchise better roster etc.) he would thrive

he obviously wasnt the sole reason we sucked. I think any reasonable non salty fan can admit that. What would be your definition of him thriving? Just making the playoffs or what? Or do you think hes gonna go to NO and have a late career resurgence like Rich Gannon?

Thats reasonable. I mean the corpse of Andy Dalton wasnt too far off from getting them to the playoffs last year. Carr is a clear upgrade. I would like to see how Carr plays in some high pressure national spotlight games

Both are highly possible and likely. But now we actually get to see what happens which is the interesting part. It won't be speculation

If he has 4 straight winning seasons (10+ wins or more every season) I’ll consider it a success. If he wins two or three playoff games then yeah, it was a good signing. If he wins the superbowl it would be beyond my expectations. They’re salary cap is what keeps me from believing they’ll be able to win the big one.

It kind of depends upon the individual games doesn’t it? Carr could play very average and they make the playoffs anyway and get an easy match up and squeak through into the next round or he could play great and they just come up against a really strong team in the first round. I’m going to be watching for how he plays in particular just to get a feel for what it reflects on our team.

How does this compare to his original contract?

It compares in the only way that matters:

The previous contract could have been renegotiated in a trade. It wasn't. And it wasn't because Mark Davis is an idiot and screwed the entire franchise by being one.

He got a better contract. So him not accepting a trade was all to stick it to the Raiders.

Oh well Saints problem now: Completely overpaid

I was calling this a while ago. I knew he’d get similar pay. It’s business and business can get ugly.

Can’t fire a guy and expect him to love you. I’m sure he loves Raiders fans and I’m sure he dislikes our current coaching staff.

I remember when people said Carr wouldn't be able to garner interest and would be lucky to cash in lol.

I'd say he cashed in.

Less APY, more guaranteed money, exactly what I predicted.
