We lost Malik Jackson & Danny Trevathan in 2016, and in 2017, Demarcus Ware retired, and Brandon Marshall & Derek Wolfe both regressed in a big way due to injury. So yes, there's context. I'd say as a DC, there's hope he's decent. As a HC, no way. Completely out of his league as the guy in charge. But that's not the gig, so there's hope. I do agree with @TheKillerNacho's premise that he's probably no genius, but he's likely a decent hire, but not a shining star DC. He will have great talent to work with in ARI, so unlike the O, the D should be expecting to improve from last year. There's no rebuild on the D side, so no excuses.
