@Mind Character

Your thoughts on the staff?

I read our oc is air raid and freddie is air coryell, which come from the sid gillman tree of offense, which fundamentally seems compatible.

If our vertical passing game works well enough there will be a ton of room for chubb to work with.

I prefer the running game as  a feature  of a focus on offense in today's and tomorrow's nfl.

It's a solid staff from top to bottom, and it's one to feel good about.

There's a lot of HC or promotion job hungry coaches on this staff, and it will be a huge task for Freddie to keep the focus on the main thing: Winning.

A little disappointed that we didn't get Tom Manning as TE Coach and as the next OC in-waiting after Monken leaves. Would've made this staff a home run as it would've given us a chance to build the Browns offense in a sustainable Air Raid Evolved coaching philosophy manner from the outset of this regime. I also have family that isn't a big fan of John Lilly as a coach which makes the hire not that exciting.

Building around Baker's comfort's (Tyler Tettleton who worked under Lincoln Riley), along with expanding Baker's knowledge and experience with a more down-field explosive version of the Air Raid (Todd Monken) is exciting and really shows the thoughtfulness involved in the thought-process of the hiring committee (Dorsey and whoever else).

Campen and Stump Mitchell are as good of a teachers in the league as you'll find. Campen hire is justly applauded, but the quality of coaching/teaching/mentoring/conditioning of the mind of an athlete as a position coach that Stump is known for in league circles is fantastic.

Wilks, Lupoi, Whitt Jr., and Jones are strong defensive coaches and elite motivators to build a defensive force around. Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly vouching for Al Holcomb will get him some great immediate buy-in from the LBs and his ability to coordinate and disguise zone-man pairings on the back end with Wilks created good pass defensive play-calling; however,

We need to somehow retain DeWayne Walker and not let him go to the Jets with Gregg Williams. Somehow someway. Then Whitt could focus on Safeties and Walker and stay focused on the CBs. However, it is unlikely, so I'd love to see a coach that focuses on eye and eye cue coaching come in to replace Walker.

But really it would be great to hire a DC redundancy as the last addition to the Defensive Staff. If Wilks leaves and gets another shot at HC, he's taking Holcomb with him leaving us with either Josh Lupoi, Joe Whitt Jr,  or Chris Jones as defensive coaches with play-calling experience. The next era of Browns football should seek to maintain systems but replace/replenish coaches much like Belichick in NE. Therefore, it would be great to have one more Coach addition on defense that could keep the continuity of defensive coaching philosophy and keep the machine rolling in the event that Wilks leaves soon.

Excellent staff. Freddie must be known as a good dude in league circles to pull this kinda talent. Diverse, experienced, innovative, motivational, teachers. Can't ask for more.

Super excited to see the offense Freddie and Monken come up with. Excited to have an oline coach who is known to develop mid-rounders into great players. Excited to retain Henry and Dewayne Walker. Combine Walker with Whitt and Wilks, our DBs are going to be the best coached in the league.

But the thing jazzing me up the most is imagining the talent our ace FO, Wolf-Highsmith-McCloughan-Dorsey, adds in FA and the draft to be coached by this staff. These are the glory days, boys! Cherish them while they're here.

McCloughan was a hired fun last year he was never a part of the FO.

I don’t think it’s just freddie that pulled the staff.

I think it was a combo of freddie Baker and Dorsey that helped this staff fall together

I think this is where we're seeing the benefit of firing Hue midseason.  Dorsey said that the "committee" was meeting and working for 9 weeks.  Other teams didn't have that luxury, and we took full advantage.  Kudos to Buddy Boy and company.

Coaches will get to pad on their resume “helped terrible franchise make playoffs for 2nd time since coming back.” I think a lot of these guys will be gone if we are successful next year.

Definitely possible. But I've also worked with enough different kinds of bosses by now to know that I would be willing to be paid a little less or have a little less authority to be with a dude I trust and enjoy working for. And Kitchens' sense of humor, straight forwardness, loyalty, and humility is a dang fine combination in a leader. So while I'm sure there are some looking to get job upgrades next year (especially Monken), I could see us having some solid retention too.
