1.31 5.5
2.5 6.5
2.28 7.5

So again, coming into this draft, BPA with a shot at a QB. Like I said, there isn't a top QB prospect in this draft, so we're gonna hope to find a later gem. I have a ton of players on my draft board, but only about 5 players in the first 2 rounds, and 15 in rounds 4-5, so it is likely that I will be moving down a bit.

My tanking partner has the first pick, and while he will post his draft eventually, I will spoil his 1st round picks. I picked 5, so here are the first 4:

2020 NFL DRAFT
PICK TEAM   NAME OVR DEV
1 CHARGERS S GRANT DELPIT 81
2 BRONCOS LT KENNY TOLLIVER 80 ⭐⭐
3 BUCS DT WALKER MADISE 79 Q
4 DOLPHINS C NICK MCCORD 79 Q

Pretty awful reach by the Dolphins, but hey, great for me! There are honestly not too many guys here that I like, but the three I was looking at were CBs Derek Blue, Griddin Hodge, and safety Anton Skinner. (I don't promise next year to post more detail, but I will try). Blue is a physical freak with a 4.35 40 and top agility of the class, Hodge is more refined as a prospect but less of a physical specimen with 4.46 40, and Anton Skinner is a big, fast and hard hitting safety with some pretty damn good top attributes. My view on players in the secondary is I want them to be able to keep up with speedy WRs, and it is a lot harder to upgrade speed than coverage, so I made the decision here based on that...

eZ1aO2F.png?1
PICK   NAME OVR DEV AGE HT WT PROJ SCHOOL 40 VERT BROAD 3CONE SHUTTLE BENCH
1.5 CB DEREK BLUE 80 21 5'10 195 1L KENTUCKY 4.35 39.5 10.2 6.72 3.76 18

Look at that, my first picks of both drafts are from Kentucky! Blue ended up being a top 7 player by rating in the class and with those combine stats he will be a damn good player, and quickly. I was honestly expecting him to be around the 75 range.

I pick again at 31, so let's sim to there.

5 RAIDERS CB DEREK BLUE 80
6 PANTHERS LB CORIN COCHRANE 79 Q
7 49ERS LB GRAHAM OGDEN 78
8 SEAHAWKS LG KEN HEMINGWAY 82 Q
9 VIKINGS DE STEVEN SOWARD 80 Q
10 STEELERS OG CONNER HEAP 80 Q
11 LIONS OG JOVANTA BRYAN 76 Q
12 PACKERS OG JORDAN MCCLESKEY 80 Q
13 PATRIOTS WR BRAD RICHARDSON 77 Q
14 JAGUARS CB GRIFFIN HODGE 83 Q
15 GIANTS DT FERNANDO LEONHARD 76 Q
16 BROWNS CB FRANKLIN ROBERTS 77 Q
17 COLTS S ANTWAN MCBURROWS 79 Q
18 JETS OG BRAYDEN BOWERS 75 N
19 CARDINALS OG PARRISH SHERMAN 77 N
20 FALCONS C TURNER HOMAN 78
21 BEARS DE RUSSELL MILLER 73 Q
22 BENGALS LT MYLES BURNETT 75 N
23 TITANS S ANTON SKINNER 79 Q
24 RAMS DT PARIS PITTMAN 77 N
25 REDSKINS OG DEMARCUS JANIS 72 N
26 CHARGERS WR JORDAN PINEDA 78 Q
27 TEXANS TE VINCE COHEN 74
28 EAGLES RT LEONARD SIMPSON 76 N
29 CHIEFS LT TJ WALL 78 N
30 SAINTS C PATRICK KENDRICKS 70 N

As you can see, this class is a joke compared to the manual 2019 class, but there are still some damn good players. As expected, Hodge ended up being the #1 player in the draft at 83 overall, but the speed at 90 compared to 95 is huge to me. Only a couple stars on there. Hick took a 6'6 WR, Pineda, with the 26th pick, and is debating moving him to tight end.

I am up here and the player I really wanted was LT TJ Wall who the Chiefs took. Well, he was only normal, so I'm okay with it now, but with two 2nd round picks coming up and only one 2nd rounder on my board, I decided to trade down.

Trade
RAIDERS BUCS
  2020 1.31   FOR   2020 3.3
OT KOLTON MILLER 76       2020 4.3
            2021 3rd

Definitely getting my *** ripped off on this one, but the CPU sucks with trade offers so I had to manual one. The last two picks of round 1:

BUCS WR TYLER COFFEE 73 N
COWBOYS LB REGGIE MOODY 75 N

2nd Round

Moving into round 2, I'm looking to take some core guys and willing to move up or down to do so. I pick at 2.5 again because I sucked, and there was only one guy I was even considering, so...

eZ1aO2F.png?1
PICK   NAME OVR DEV AGE HT WT PROJ SCHOOL 40 VERT BROAD 3CONE SHUTTLE BENCH
2.5 OT TRENTON MACKEY 81 Q 21 6'6 315 3M OLE MISS 5.07 28.5 9'10 7.55 4.58 38

Mackey was a mid 3rd rounder, but should have been a 1st rounder. He has B=, B and B- of the three pass blocking grades, and immediately stood out to me as my 10 year starter at LT, though he played RT in college for some stupid reason. I am thrilled with this pick.

Now you'll remember me saying I liked a ton of guys in the 4th round... well I have a 2nd and two 3rds and the highest graded prospect left on my board is early 4th. I pick again at 2.28, but the trade offers sucked, so I had a decision to make. I pick again at 3.3, so not long to wait, but there is an early 4th round QB that I really wanted... and I didn't want to lose out on him. The Chargers picked twice in between this pick and my 3rd, but I had heard from some sources that they were happy with Brett Rypien for whatever reason and weren't looking for an upgrade this year, so I decided to see if he would make it. Instead, I took:

eZ1aO2F.png?1
PICK   NAME OVR DEV AGE HT WT PROJ SCHOOL 40 VERT BROAD 3CONE SHUTTLE BENCH
2.28 TE ADONIS REEVES 78 Q 23 6'6 235 4L WISCONSIN 4.64 39.4 10'5 6.99 4.2 25

Reeves was a 6'6 235 WR who was a 72 overall, but the move to tight end bumped him right to 78. The tight ends in this game are crap so this is the route I usually go, give me an Evan Engram type. His speed is 86.

3rd Round

I kind of broadcasted who the target at the next pick was gonna be, and he slid down to my pick!

eZ1aO2F.png?1
PICK   NAME OVR DEV AGE HT WT PROJ SCHOOL 40 VERT BROAD 3CONE SHUTTLE BENCH
3.3 QB JACKSON PAWELEK 77 Q 21 6'2 225 4E WISCONSIN 4.56 35.2 9'5 7.05 4.24 15

...meh. He will be good, and hopefully he will be my Russell Wilson. His name is kinda cool, and he has 88 speed.... I will probably abuse the f out of that. Here's to hoping this is the savior! I will still keep Tyree Jackson, but despite his OROY award and 4300 yards his rookie season, he will now be the backup.

On to the next pick which is 3.5, which is not far to wait. There was a 3rd round projected corner who had some murmurs of having 2nd round talent, and he was still sitting there. Sources said that the Chargers were looking at him just a few picks ago, but passed on him. At this point I think it's worth it to take a shot

eZ1aO2F.png?1
PICK   NAME OVR DEV AGE HT WT PROJ SCHOOL 40 VERT BROAD 3CONE SHUTTLE BENCH
3.5 FS OJ MINGO 76 Q 22 6'0 209 3L OHIO STATE 4.52 31.6 10'0 6.96 4.2 19

I've already slotted him in at safety because a) I don't have any damn safeties, and b) his 90 speed is under my corner thresh hold. I did just re-sign two corners, but I'm sure there will be a spot for Mingo in the slot in a year or two, but for now he will start at FS.

2020 NFL Draft - Rounds 4-7

Hick stole a few of my guys late here, and I'll be honest, I missed out on a ton of the guys I wanted. But I did get three players on my list, and here they are. I did do a couple trades - one to move up to the 5th because I desperately wanted to draft some of the 5th round guys on my board, and then once they all went, I traded that pick out to next year.

I traded 2020 6-165 and 2020 7-197 for 2020 5-130, which I then traded for a 2021 4th.

PICK   NAME OVR DEV AGE HT WT PROJ SCHOOL 40 VERT BROAD 3CONE SHUTTLE BENCH
5.5 K RICHARD TOOMER 76 N 22 6'2 197 5L MONTANA STATE - - - - - -

Taylor long was a pure SPARQ draft pick, and honestly he is WAY better than I thought, He will probably start this year.

Tucker Bakhtiari was actually a LT but I just don't have a need there, so I slid him in to center, kind of like what people thought David Bakhtiari would have to do at the next level. We are going to assume Tucker is David's brother, and as a Packer fan, had to have him.

The kicker was one of the better kicker prospects I've ever seen, so grabbed him once all of my prospects were gone.

This concludes a pretty successful draft, where I secured a future #1 corner, a franchise LT, hopefully a franchise QB, and some nice depth pieces.

*Note though to all reading*
- My personal preference to have real players in so I switched the players I drafted to match real life players who would be eligible for the 2020 draft.

The way the draft fell was interesting because there were many nice players to be had. The run on guards in the first round really took the winds out of my sails because I could have used two of them instead of just the one I drafted. But, I know what needs I have next season. I really did go full tank mode when taking over the Chargers. I'm willing to battle it out this season and grind through with this team. There are many different ways to go already looking ahead at next year but I need to see the draft class first. I haven't figured out the identity of this team yet on offense and yet to find the strides on the defensive side of the ball as well.

I'm not sure if Rypien is the answer at Quarterback but there were really none in this past draft class I wanted and it was fair to give him another year. Rypien isn't going to dominate anybody and seems more of a clock manager. Controlling the ball will be key to this team because I don't have any home run hitters. My offensive line is going to have to progress quickly to keep Rypien safe and make some lanes.

More than Devin White is needed with this defense. I have been debating putting Delpit in a hybrid role just to get him all over the field. There is a strong possibility to do that because it's a rough go of it. Joejuan is amazing in the zone but his play recognition is low. I have a lot of guys building towards their potential. I just need to see who is going to step up over the course of the season.

I signed Melinfonwu because I had no viable option at SS and wanted an average starter with ++ physical traits since I like to manual my SS or linebacker, but I haven't found any linebackers yet.

I was up 14-0 in this game and lost it with 45 seconds left. I am liking this QB quite a bit... he broke 2 sacks and made some great plays, but my OL is just so weak overall that the pressure got to me way too quickly. Playing on All-Madden I definitely need another season to let these guys progress a bit. Run blocking is non-existent.

I ended up simming the 4th quarter of this game cause I was so far behind. I think Pawelek threw a pick, but thats to be expected when you're down 3 scores. This offense is fun to play with, but man, the pass and run blocking is just abysmal. I don't even bother trying to run

I won one!!!!! TD with 30 seconds to Justice Hill. Speaking of Justice Hill, peep those rushing numbers.

I desperately need to hit on a LB this year. Mine are absolutely lost in coverage and just get swallowed in the running game.

Saints were in the Super Bowl last year, and the Chiefs lose in the AFCCG back to back year. Pretty ****ty super bowl if you ask me...

Only in Madden could the Cowboys win the Super Bowl.

Man, the 2020 draft looks like it was all peaked, mediocre Seniors and no talented underclassmen.

To be fair the first class was just unusually stacked cause it was made by a roster creator, but yeah the 2020 class ended up being kinda bad. It looked great when I was scouting, but ended up pretty crappy

This game just seems abnormally hard right now. Maybe it's the all-madden with the sliders, but my defense is just so terrible. I will probably be making a deadline trade or two since this season has started off a lot worse that I was hoping.
