Darbsk
On 17/08/2019 at 5:28 AM, OG_C2X said: I was a HUGE Arden Key guy. Prior to the 2017 season it was him and Chubb as the top pass rushers for me. I had a late 1st early 2nd round grade on him. I thought while he didnt have the sacks last year I was very impressed by him, he make rookie mistakes that i think cost him about 5 or 6 easy sacks. I think he has the potential to be a double digit sack guy for us. Key 10.5 sacks Ferrell 8 sacks Hurst 6 sacks I can also see Key leading us in sacks this year, I don't think I can see quite the production you see but I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the team with around 7 and with Hurst, Ferrell, maybe Mayowa getting 4 or 5 sacks each and a couple thrown in from the likes of Hankins, Hall, Crosby and the safeties. I think he'll be more than a pure 3rd down pass rush specialist this year as he looks to have improved his all round game and gotten stronger with better leverage. To be fair I don't think he was terrible against the run last year, just usual rookie mistakes being out of place, biting on fakes and a few things so I can see him playing a pretty high number of snaps. I can't really see us rising to middle of the pack stats wise but I think we'll get a decent number of pressures which may be almost as important. Hopefully we'll be able to scheme the safeties in particular and the LBs free to generate some pressure as we have some great blitzers back there with Joyner, Joseph and Abram.

Humble_Beast
Biggest letdowns on defense has been Key and Ferrell. Hoping Key made a jump, and Ferrell made an impact. Could have Burns/Allen off the edge too. Smh

I'm hoping he can notch 8-10 sacks a year and play the run well. He's been solid at that so far, showing some smarts. And his versatility is nice too. Would have preferred to trade down a few slots with him, but I don't hate what I've seen in his first 3 games. Wait and see. Key....I'm not sure will even be a rotational guy.

Ferrell more of late 20s/ 2nd round pick. Probably be a solid starter but you gotta get foundation piece in top 10. He'll get a lot of flack over sack stats (and to some degree that's what you expect being the #4 overall pick). But he's very savvy, instinctive and makes plays. As the game slows down for him I think he'll be a bright spot for the team.

If the guy catches that INT that changes the game for the Raiders.
oakdb36
For info, the highest graded Raider on D after 3 weeks according to PFF is Nicholas Morrow. Hankins, Hall, Mayowa, Burfict and Whitehead are graded positively as well. The rest of the D is poor to terrible.

But, i am happy he diagnosed and got his hands up. Ferrell has done well and will be a building block, people will get frustrated because hes no Mack, but there is only one KM52. I also think Crosby will be a player for us, probably not a star, but a solid starter that will be high energy in a rotation. What this defense needs badly is a MLB that can run around and make plays. I loved Kendricks coming out of UCLA and wanted him badly in that second round. I have no idea why we dont emphasize the position. Any good defense in the league has a high quality MLB. We need a leader in the middle, Burfict has done well but hes a stop gap at best.
