BayRaider
Defense looked decent against Saints in the Second Half, some good adjustments by PG. However we still haven’t faced a good armed QB yet to test our Secondary. Week 1 - Bridgewater - Weak Arm Week 2 - Brees - Weak Arm Week 3 - Newton - Strong Arm Week 4 - Allen - Strong Arm Week 5 - Mahomes - Strong Arm Week 7 - Brady - Average Arm Week 8 - Mayfield - Average Arm Week 9 - Herbert - Strong Arm Week 10 - Lock - Strong Arm Week 11 - Mahomes - Strong Arm Week 12 - Ryan - Strong Arm Week 13 - Darnold - Strong Arm Week 14 - Rivers - Dead Arm Week 15 - Herbert - Strong Arm Week 16 - Tua/Fitz - Average Arms Week 17 - Lock - Strong Arm That’s 10 Strong Arms, 3 Average Arms, 2 Weak Arms, and 1 Dead Arm. And we already faced both Weak Arms. Newton is going to be a real test for our secondary and it should be really interesting.

NYRaider
Firing Brenston Buckner to replace him with Rod Marenlili looks more and more questionable every week. Only way it will make sense is if we axe Gunther during the season and Rod takes over as DC.
TLO
Guenther has to be on the hot seat at some point soon. 3 years in and essentially no improvement as an overall unit.

Yeah our defense has honestly regressed despite us spending a ton in free agency and 4 1st/2nd round picks on the unit over the last two off-seasons. Geezy
Defense played well in the 1st half, seems they gassed in the 2nd.
NYRaider
Through the first 3 games we've allowed 87 carries for 491 yards (5.6 ypc) and 6 TD. We're currently on pace to have one of the worst run defenses in NFL history.

It doesn't get any easier for us though. We get the Bills who are averaging 100+ yards by committee, then the Chiefs with CEH, Buccaneers with Fournette/RoJo, Browns with Chubb/Hunt, Chargers with Ekeler, Broncos with Gordon/Lindsay, Chiefs again with CEH, Falcons with Gurley, and the Jets with Bell. I want to see how our defense looks when Kwit is back on the field. My dream draft right now is Marvin Wilson in the 1st and Andre Cisco in the 2nd. The biggest issue that I have with Gunther that I've had with him his entire time here is that he just really lacks creativity with how he attacks offenses. We were 31st in blitz % in 2018, 24th in blitz % in 2019, and 25th in blitz % through 2 games in 2020. In terms of pressures (a combination of sacks, hurries, and QB hits) we ranked 32nd in 2018, 30th in 2019, and 31st through 2 games in 2020. You can attribute some of that to lack of talent in the last two years but what's his excuse this year? We've spent 3 1sts, 1 2nd, and 2 4th round picks on defensive players the last two drafts and have invested $130M on free agents like Littleton, Joyner, Collins, Kwit, Nassib, and Collins. We're not even somewhat respectable through 3 games going against the Panthers with a rookie HC and a new QB, the Saints with a regressing Brees and without their best player, and the Patriots with a new QB and limited weapons on offense. Humble_Beast
So far my thoughts on starters DE- Max- dude is the real deal. 2.5 sacks and opponents game planning against him. Didn’t have the best game against the Saints but they have one of the best OL in football UT- big hole. Hurst more of a backup. Collins a flop NT- Hankins not dominant, but solid. I would bring him back on 2-3 year deal unless we can sign a dominant DT. DE- Ferrell- has a decent game against Pats with pressure. Let’s see how he develops, solid against the run. Hit or miss pass rusher so far WLB- Morrow- backup player who starts MLB- Kwit- inc - been hurt SLB- Littleton- hasn’t came in and looked that good. To be fair, it’s a new system, and our defensive line sucks. Still has that range you want for a modern LB. CB- Mullen- dude been ballin this year CB- Arnette- been solid so far. Hasn’t looked horrible so he has that going for him Slot- Joyner- hasn’t been bbq like last year. Still overpaid FS- Big need SS- Abram- looked good first two games, but bad last game. Played hurt last game. need 3 starters badly, and our depth sucks. Once injuries pile up, it really shows.
