To answer the latter part first, I think it matters some. It would be "better" if we could keep it imo.

As far as the first part, if they want to go down a path of Warthogs that'd be fine. Warriors. Bravehearts was proposed. Just not Wizards :D

Seen Pigskins get tossed around a lot as a total departure.

Can still be the “Skins”, ties into the whole Hogs thing.

I’d be curious if they’d go with another name Like Warriors or Americans , but retain the Native American imagery... seems like kicking the can down the road a bit.

Personally, not a fan of either of those. Washington Skins just sounds weak.

The audible aesthetic of "Pigskins" just sounds awful IMO.

Hogskins/Pigskins/Buckskins all are much better than Redskins.

They don't have the negative connotation, but Redskins rolls off the tongue way better than "The Washington Pigskins"

Super Cringe.

Ok Boomer. Redskins rolls off the tongue because youve called them that your entire life.

That said, if I was them, I would change to pigskin/hogskin and then market every single thing as just "skins" for the next 5-10 years.

From a branding perspective nothing really changes. Most networks haven’t called them Redskins for years anyway. Pigskin is already synonymous with football.

I don’t think it’s great, but it’s the easiest move that retains the most elements to their branding.

If they want to still keep the Native American theme, I’d rather they go with a tribe that was from the area (Potomacs) over generic things like Warriors.

But, I think if they are going to do a rebrand a lot of people will push to just totally move to something without controversy.

Have the DC/American theme, a couple other names have been floated like those. Most are kinda weak or don’t make sense in DC like they would Philly or Boston.

Feel like some sort of pig/hog thing is the only animal that makes sense.

Have a bunch of generic military names available like Generals, but they are pretty meh.

Could see Snyder being vindictive and just not rename the team. Call them The Washington Football Team and just keep the logo until people force him to change that too.
