This is the closest Redskins fans will get to a super bowl during Snyder’s lifetime ownership.

Let's try for some optimism: maybe he sells (or is forced to sell) before he dies.

No, this was the closest:

When the Redskins fired coach Marty Schottenheimer after the 2001 season despite winning eight of their last 11 games, they also fired then-vice president of player personnel John Schneider. Schneider landed on his feet and spent seven seasons in a successful front office with the Green Bay Packers before he was hired as executive vice president and general manager of the Seattle Seahawks in 2010. He assembled a team that has made the playoffs in six of the past seven years and won the Super Bowl after the 2014 season.

People who worked with Schneider in Washington say that even years after being fired, Schneider would talk about the five-year vision he and Schottenheimer shared for the franchise. The Redskins have won one playoff game since that season.

You literally can not make this stuff up.  This team could have the best front office in the league had they kept Schottenheimer and Schneider, who would've eventually succeeded to GM when Schottenheimer stepped out of the way.  A couple of the longer-term guys in the FO would still be here.

Instead, another one of Snyder's temper-tantrum, throwing the baby out with the bath water changes.

The amount of qualified football people that he has let leave- whether resignation or firing- is beyond nuts.  Couple that with those who are leaving for promotions, and it's even worse.

And we were double digit losers in every year but 2012.

We have no clue if Matt LeFleur will win in GB. His offense was a ball control offense in Tennessee that was lucky enough to have Derrick Henry and before that both Henry & Demarco Murray. Their passing game was anemic in Tenn & so is Mariotta as a passer, so it's not like LeFleur made him a better pocket passer. Now he's got Aaron Rodgers, but I'm sure everyone will call him an offensive genius! Lol

Kyle has yet to win in San Fran. The jury is still out there.

McVay inherited a stacked team w/ a #1 overall talent at QB and an.MVP talent at RB. His GM has made some great moves in free agency and through trades the last two years.

At the same time, I'm willing to bet that they would be better over the next three-to-four year span than Washington will be.

I’d say 99 was the closest. Casserly had finally built a contending roster that Dan & Vinny tore apart the next offseason.
