The Pats missed the playoffs after winning their first SB and Brady had put up some decent numbers that year.  Buffalo was also mediocre but Bledsoe put up much better numbers than Brady that season.  Was there any shred of doubt that Brady was still the guy or maybe they had jumped the gun moving Bledsoe?  Just randomly curious at that specific time before they went on to win the next two SB’s...

Majority thought it was right to stick with Brady cuz he was young and promising but there was a loyal contingent weary and some even angry at Belichick for trading Bledsoe, and within the division no less. Those same worriers seemed to fear the Bills would be better off and the Belichick was getting way ahead of himself. There were some people who thought Kraft should rein Bill in because of the trade, but for the big contract Bledsoe received at the time, I think most were willing to wait and see how the cheaper Brady would help build the team under the cap.

Just scanned Brady’s gamelog from that first full year starting.  His QB rating in the first game vs Buffalo was 147 in a blowout..  The next time he posted a higher rating was 2007.  That seems like the most Brady thing ever given the chip on his shoulder.
