what a classy dude.  you can tell he loves it here and wants to make the playoffs and he knows the only way we make the playoffs is to open up some cap room to upgrade our offense.

That's good news.  He's still an absolutely key piece of that defense, so it's nice that we should be able to keep him around while still freeing up a bit of cap room this year.  Though really, his contract structure kinda dictates that more than anything.  It's totally primed for some restructuring right now.

Have always said...Calais is the prime candidate for a restructure from a talent (we still want to keep), salary, and attitude.

Anytime a guy gets up there in age like that, you worry if he's just gonna fall off a cliff one day...but i think he's got the sort of game that could age better than most DLine guys.  He's always going to have that raw size and power going for him, and he's become such a smart technician of a player, where technical proficiency and football smarts is likely to hang on longer than quickness/raw explosive athleticism.
