I'm 100% getting it and gonna play the crap out of it. Only thing I hope they don't do is follow the formula of immortal. Go back to the Diablo 2 days... Even Diablo 3. Immortal was their way of destroying the product You poor soul. D4 looks alright, but I just don't want to pay $70 for a game that is also constantly screaming about how great their battle pass is on top of their other microtransactions. Screw Blizzard. If the game was F2P in the mold of PoE I would give it a shot, but no shot I am paying full price for that game on release. Expect a modernized D3 with the ability to spend more money. Will probably be fun for a month though. I get what you're saying, but he's probably going to get 100+ hours of enjoyment for that $70 (Probably 90 bucks- sounds like EaglesFly is a deluxe edition kind of man), so it's not really a bad investment. Yeah my argument would be play PoE for free and spend money on exactly what you want for a much better experience lol. Diablo is selling nostalgia which if it is your thing enjoy. I will never judge people for spending money on what they want, just from my PoV it isn't worth it. I spent $140 bucks on Escape from Tarkov and have gotten 10x the value of that money on the game. I am a former WoW player so I have some serious anti-Blizzard bias as well so take that for what it is worth. I have hated pretty much everything Blizzard has done the past two years. Some people liked City of Heroes/Villains more than WoW. Some people like Devil May Cry more than God of War. Some people like Star Wars Knights of the old Republic more than Final Fantasy 10. And some morons think Chrono Trigger isn't the greatest RPG of all time and that we shouldn't set fire to Squares offices until they agree to remake it for modern consoles. I sometimes think about firing up the ol WoW account, but nah. Edited May 16 by Jeezla

That had nothing to do with the game. Had everything to do with how the two games are monetized. PoE being free to play and microtransactions being the only way the make money on the game you can pay for exactly what you want. Don't care about stashes/cosmetics? Don't buy them. Don't spend any money on the game. Want to support the game? Do it. You don't have to pay up front so any purchases after that are all your choice. Meanwhile D4 you pay $70 bucks for the game then get a battle pass shoved into your face which they have confirmed does not give you enough currency to buy future ones. On top of that there will be exclusive micro transactions for other cosmetics and what not that aren't included in the battle pass. Sure you don't HAVE to buy the battle pass, but lets be real just about everyone is going to. And then down the line they are going to sell expansions with even more battle passes! They are double dipping on the $70 purchase with the F2P model behind it. Just typical scummy Blizzard. I was pretty excited about D4 when it was originally announced at Blizzcon but all the news since then has just killed it for me. Again not trying to say people shouldn't spend money on what they want. It is your money and your life. Enjoy what you want to enjoy. No judgement just my opinion. I do hate that Blizzard is going to make a killing on a product that is just so much worse than the games they used to make, but it is what it is. I'm just going to buy the new Zelda instead and enjoy that since that hits my nostalgia way better anyways.

PoE way of doing things definitely better for us consumers, but Blizzard's way is better for making money. Haven't played a Zelda since Majoras Mask, but this new one does look awesome and has me wondering if I should get a Switch. I won't, because I know a better switch is coming in 2024, so I'll probably just wait for that, then play this new Zelda. Only Nintendo system I've owned since N64 era is a 3DS that I bought for my sister, but she never used it, so I stole it when I found out there was a Chrono Trigger DS port. I don't hate Blizzard for their way of doing business, because no doubt it makes them absurd amounts of money, and that's the goal of business, but I do feel like they are basically coasting as content developers/artists and moving more laterally (just like Madden) versus forwards with their new games. Stinks, but I'll still get addicted as hell to that loot grind and maxing out my build, and I actually really liked the cut scenes/story direction from the beta. Only other Diablo I played was 3 for like the 1st 2 months it came out, then I just moved on to other games, but I enjoyed it. Scalamania
I played probably 300+ hours of D3 (just recently stopped); I am also stoked for D4 and will probably play that for another 300+ hours but I will not be buying the BP and/or any microtransactions. The Diablo formula is addicting, the season model they came up with keeps me coming back every season to max GR.

Gearing up over a few months getting everything you want done and then coming back at the next season/wipe hits the dopamine in my brain perfect. Very addicting. I've never played fortnite either, but the weapon and transportation customization options in this zelda sound really cool, and like you could lose a lot of hours just tinkering around with that aspect of the game, let alone the exploration and supposedly good story. If it has Rare, legendary, and mythic loot- I was probably addicted to it at some point. Borderlands, The Division, Marvels Avengers, Diablo, WoW. Straight Columbian right into my blood. Always liked the idea of "Raids" and rare boss drops that require several people working together to obtain too. I'm hoping the next Dark Souls/Elden Ring adds 10 man raids or some queueable end game world boss that drops one of a kind loot, but you aren't beating it with just 3 or 4 people due to mechanics or something. I feel like a recovering addict, went hard into them for awhile. Got off of them just to start playing more closed loop games that were building up, had a huge backlog from “having” to log into those loot / live service games. I was doing like 5-7 hours in Destiny every night for like all of Destiny 1.

It's that WoW syndrome - just about everyone grew up playing WoW and nothing quite scratches the itch but anything loot based is pretty damn close and it just hooks you in.
