I’m sure every fan will have a few adds to the list from their school so for the Badgers...

I would add Cole Van Lanen - LT, he won’t be a senior but I’d be surprised if he didn’t enter after his JR year.  He was the #1 rated OT in pass pro in the country last year.

Jake Ferguson is a beast but I doubt he enters the draft after next year unless he adds some weight and has a huge year statistically, which won’t happen in the Badger offense.

Overall really solid list.

Ferguson could be a reach entering early but is a NFL prospect all the way and with that athletic ability and ability to go up and get the football, with another fine year I think he could easily come out early I feel and be one of the better TEs in a some what weak class right now.  I will need to watch Van Lanen more next year but was not super amazed at any point with him this year being helped by great talent around him on the OL.  I also do not base anything off other individual rankings, would be curious that list of 'top rated OTs' in college football last year.  I would not be surprised if some are not even that good of players, but they graded well because they did not give up sacks and at times there can be tons of reasons other than individual talent that sacks were not given up, offensive system, who they play, where they roll out the QB etc.  

I still feel David Edwards made a mistake coming out early, if he would have came back he would clearly be in the 1st round pick discussion when really he was not even before the start of this season and I feel will drop to the 3rd or 4th round but will see what happens.  Also guys like Irv Smith would have been a higher pick in 2020, same with Justin Layne and Tyrel Dodson and some others

Ruggs in the 1st seems high, Moses and Diggs in the 3rd seem low. Where is Marvin Wilson? I would think Shenault has 1st round talent

Yeah it is way early but I had the list made already.  But again sure some guys I forgot and always are a few I thought were coming out as SRs in 2019 but are actually coming back to school for another year.

Ruggs is a straight up baller in my book, awesome hands and speed, he is a big time talent, to me he is a really promising athlete and is a burner with legit speed.    Moses I was not super impressed with his play last year outside of how he blitzed, will have to pick up the slack next year and that front seven will look a lot different for sure, see if Lewis can finally stay healthy for a season.  Diggs coming off injury still needs to show he can be a consistent starter in my book, awesome ball skills but tackling and toughness over a season is still a question to me.  

Marvin Wilson I need to see more of, I was not super impressed with him last year, I feel he needs to be more consistent.  Shenault I had at the bottom of the 1st round then changed it because really after starting off hot he really trailed off and did not look like the same player.  Sure some of that was injury but another part of it defenses started to pay attention to him and it was harder for him to produce.  If he was really that elite athletically teams could not take him away so easily like they did late in the year.  Will see if he can round back to form next year and if so sure he would be a 1st round talent but again super disappointed with how he and that team played to end the season.

PS The Super Bowl this year was not nearly as bad as people say.  I love it was a defensive battle and the Patriots won the game with that tough hard nose run game and a very impressive defense and I know Bill loved winning that way as well.  Since when is defense boring, I would say scoring every position almost like last year was more boring because everything seemed so easy.  Bill  is a hell of a defensive coach and nice to see them back to being dominant on that side of the ball.  Will be curious what they do with Trent Brown, he deserves a big time contract I feel he played quite well this year and was a big key in that run game. 

If Gronk retires they should draft CJ Conrad, he is a big tough physical TE who can block well and has some pass catching skills and power.  Could be a great fit middle rounds, or get a guy like Josh Oliver who is more skill as a pass catcher and is physically just a massive dude but is less of a blocker.  Also see Tommy Sweeney as potentially a good fit as a pass catching/blocking TE combo with some physical ability.

I think this is too low for Pinckney. I had him as the top OLB prospect for THIS draft class coming up and a late 2nd round pick. I'd expect him to go in the same spot next year, although the LB class is significantly better in 2020.

He's a beast. Probably won't go in the 1st, but I'd think the top of the 2nd would be his low mark. I had him as the 2nd best ILB this past season only behind Devin White. I think he's even with Mack Wilson as prospects, albeit that they have very dissimilar play styles.

 

 

 

 

Glad you love him too. He's fast, violent, and instinctive. Good in zone coverage. Great tackler. Just plays a vicious brand of football, but also doesn't take himself out of plays by being "stupid aggressive." I'd be shocked if he went in the 1st round based on the very little buzz he's generated, but I don't think a team would regret it.

Garvin I would of had in the 1st round and was close to doing that because athletically I think he could really blow up this next season.  The guy is great bending the edge and knows how to get his hands up and deflect passes, he is hard to handle in a pass rush situation.  As a prospect I say he is more talented than Joe Jackson all the way because he is more athletically gifted just needs to get a little strong and I think he will do that.

 

I agree Jeff Thomas is probably not a 6th round pick but the entire quit on your team thing, transfer then say he I am coming back.  That is just odd to me and that is why I dropped him out of the middle rounds to the later rounds.  Could work his way back up but the entire I am going to Illinois thing but now I am back, again it just rubs me the wrong way about his character potentially.  Will see if he can continue to progress, did show some nice things last year especially in terms of deep speed.

 

I think you overrate Pinckney a lot, sure he is good but I would not take him in the 1st round.  I just do not feel he has a great deal of upside but maybe I am wrong, will see how he does next season.  Maybe I underrate his consistency he has had over a long period of time, and it is not a strong OLB group so maybe he can climb up it.  I am glad Quarterman came back to school, same with Pinckney really will see if they can actually accomplish something on the field after the loses they took this past season.  Quarterman does need to take his play to the next level and be more of a difference maker on the field, at times he is just out there and he does not affect the game that much.  Tate Martell should be huge for them if he is allow to play right away.  

 

As for Bachie, I do not care about buzz, hell I had him as a possible 1st rounder this year same with Fisher just based on ability.  Bachie with his blitzing potential and activity as a linebacker could do some fine things in a 3/4 defense as a ILB and be a real terror.  I need to watch Michigan State some more they have a few solid defenders on the DL for sure that help Bachie be free, but the kid shows up and it is obvious when one watches them play.

Yeah Miami was dominant on defense 99% of the time last year. The reason they lost games was their god awful QB and...well...the offense in general. Tate Martell should help, but they're still missing pieces along their OL and don't really have a dominant possession WR to pair with Thomas' deep speed. They won't be a contender in 2019 unfortunately.

 

Pinckney is solid at everything. Unspectacular, sure. He isn't elite in any one area, but he is literally good at everything. I wish he was a little more twitchy to handle man coverage responsibilities, but that's never going to be his game. He is a big strong OLB'er that does great things in zone, blitzing, and making stop-hitting tackles. He is very good at reading the blocks in front of him and moving accordingly. Plays with great pacing to his game to avoid blocks, but shows more than enough strength to punch and disengage when needed. He's probably going to time in the 4.7 range, but that should be enough to keep teams from considering him "slow." I like him a lot, but yeah, he ain't a 1st rounder. Not spectacular enough in any 1 area.

I expect Jacob Eason to have a great season at Washington and it is pretty clear he has a more elite arm than Fromm.  Now Fromm is a better game manager and has been more consistent but I expect Eason to have worked those issues out, now sure that might happen this up coming season but I feel it will.

 

Fromm played great against Bama for sure, but that was the game of his life and or career arguably.  In the bowl game he was surprisingly bad I thought in that big loss for Georgia.  Now yeah he might be a 1st rounder I just do not see him as having a high NFL ceiling.  In no way on the field does he look like this big time legit QB prospect based on arm talent.  Limited arm strength, needs a great run game with many dynamic backs and playmakers.  Will tell a ton this up coming season how he does without a lot of the standard playmakers around him.  With Ridley, Hardman and Nauta all leaving and all arguably have no business declaring early but they did anyway, all could have been higher picks this next season potentially, not to mention Godwin gone as well as a SR.  Not sure Fromm will be as good but again this year will tell a lot on just how good he really is.  Helps when the defense is great and the running game has multiple backs to put in there and dominate the game.  They had it last year with Chubb and Michel and this year with Swift and Holyfield.  Oh and Holyfield is another that yeah maybe you should have returned for another season but clearly did not.  Jordan Love to me has more arm talent no doubt than Fromm and is more athletic and has a quicker release, and I do not see Fromm being picked over the likes of Tua or Herbert ever and not sure there will be that much demand for QBs come 2020 draft but who knows.

No one is arguing Ferguson isn’t going to be a top TE prospect, I guarantee I’ve seen more of his game than you have but to suggest he would come out after his RSO year is just ignorant.

I am fully aware that is the list you got it from, you are not the first fan of a team that brings up a PFF list in an attempt to legitimize your point.  Before the season last year a Kansas State fan brought up to me the ranking PFF had on the Kansas State offensive line as proof of their greatness as a collective group  in the nation.  Specifically Abdul Beecham who I had as a late round pick then, now I have him as a undrafted player, decent prospect but yeah never thought his ceiling was that high he did.  If you like PFF so much go get their 2020 7 round mock from them, wait they do not have one is my guess.  

I do not base things off what some website says or ranks, this is only on the players I have seen and watched and is not based on other lists I have seen because I do not look at them and there are really no lists like this out there.  So dislike it if you want, but watching more than one team over and over gives perspective to prospects and just how good some are compared to the rest.  But no you personal team has the best players at all times, sure believe that.  And of course you do not want Ferguson to leave early, then the team would not be as good the following season.   But I base it on best players leave and he is one of the best TE prospects and is eligible so it is totally a possibly not ignorant it is a reality.
