Lions release S Glover Quin, WR Bruce Ellington

Two former Texans. Quin would be a nice option if the Texans lose out on both Kareem Jackson and Tyrann Mathieu (highly doubtful they don't get either). Ellington might find his way back - he was cut to make room for Demaryius Thomas, but that was a short lived situation. Ellington knows the playbook, would be a cheap fill in if/when Will Fuller gets hurt.

Quin slowed down a decent amount but he still holds value. He's still an absolutely great person to have in the locker room and if you use him in a role closer to the LOS he should be fine for another year or two. Just wasn't worth the money he was going to be owed in Detroit.

An incredible amount. He's still absolutely everything you could want as a locker-room guy and mentor though. He'll likely end up coaching if he wants to. Lions fans would love to keep him around in some capacity.

Sounds a lot like Jaguars fans when Rashean Mathis went to the Lions as a free agent.Ā  heh.

On the other note...not gonna lie, i had no idea Bruce Ellington with even with the Lions in the first place.

Yup - was released with an injury settlement in Houston following the Demaryius Thomas trade. Picked up pretty quickly by the Lions, actually had a few productive games with them.

Ellington is a very good WR (a lower end #2 or a high end #3, IMO). He just simply can't stay healthy, always has some nagging injury that forces him to miss games.

But Bruce will get hurt eventually too.
