Will this be as bad as when he was the Packers Defensive Coordinator or will he be better in a limited role?

hes gonna be essentially like an advisor role.  Wash cant scheme well for certain style offenses and im hoping capers can fix that cuz our coverage last year should have been better. we have 2 probowl talents at corner and we play cover 3 which ramsey dislikes when we could play something more like a 2 deep or something along those lines where ramsey is going man to man.

Just make Jalen the defensive assistant coach then.

Weve seen how our coverage struggles in the cover 3 and against teams that have a good scheme offensively.

We've also seen how the Jaguars defense was absolutely elite, possibly even the very best in the entire league...playing a lot of cover 3 variations.

Anyone who paid attention to the Packers and Dom Capers since 2011 probably can't help but laugh at this but tbh Dom Capers didnt fail out in Green Bay because he has a bad scheme, its because he is unwilling to adapt to what he has to work with. Capers is incredible at maximizing the talents of a guy like Ramsey and I think Jags fans should be pumped about this hire.

Honestly though...what the Jaguars need more than anything, is someone who can help Wash work through in-game adjustments to what's already there schematically.  Not looking to install a Dom Capers defense...they just need somebody who can get in Todd Wash's ear with advice from up in the booth, when things are starting to go sideways.  I'm really curious to see if this works, or even has any effect at all.

Don't think we have to worry about him turning things into a Dom Capers defense overall or anything.

we also saw how teams also ripped this said defense to shreds cuz cover 3 doesnt worrk against a mcvay/shanahan offense or do u just remember our defense ripping bad offenses.

The Jaguars have had trouble against certain types of offenses, yes.  But it's not like "Cover 3" is just one specific defense.  There's variety in it.  And honestly...welcome to being a defensive coordinator.  There is no such thing as a "perfect defense".  Every scheme has it's strengths and weaknesses.

Best hope is that someone with the experience of Dom Capers can provide insight that helps adjust to things Todd Wash's defensive scheme isn't naturally strong against...on the fly.

The Packers defensive performances under Dom Capers during the 7 playoff losses with Aaron Rodgers.

Atlanta 44-21 (493 yards allowed);
Arizona, 26-20 (368 yards allowed);
Seattle, 28-22 (397 yards allowed);

San Francisco, 23-20 (381 yards allowed);
San Francisco, 45-31 (579 yards allowed);
New York Giants, 37-20 (420 yards allowed); and
Arizona, 51-45 (531 yards allowed).

Capers' defenses in Green Bay gave up 44 or more points in 3 playoff losses.
As of the date of the Packers final loss while Dom was still the defensive coordinator -- to the Falcons in the 2017 NFC Championship, Tom Brady's D has never once given up 44 points in his (then) 267 career starts.

Minus the 2009 shootout against the Cardinals all of these games were post 2011. Dom Capers never had a less than top 10 defense with a blue chip corner (Charles Woodson). Dom Capers isnt some defensive guru but he knows how to get the best out of talent. Good move for the jags
