Quote

Mark D. Lerner, Ted Lerner’s son who now serves as the club’s managing principal owner, told The Washington Post in a statement that the family has hired New York investment bank Allen & Company to research potential investors, and possibly buyers, for the Nationals.

“This is an exploratory process, so there is no set timetable or expectation of a specific outcome,” Mark Lerner said in the statement. “The organization is as committed as ever to their employees, players, fans, sponsors and partners and to putting a competitive product on the field.”

I just have a feeling this isn't big enough for him to make the plunge. No reason, just my gut.

The issue is how often are major sports franchises put up for sale? And one that he lives close to now. Maybe he gets a shot at the Commanders when they inevitably go up for sale.

You’re 100% right. My gut was that it’s them, maybe another nfl team or nothing

Maybe instead of Besos, Ted Leonsis will buy the Nats. I know we all have issue with the way Leonsis handles the Wizards but, I think we can all agree he’d pay his top players and wouldn’t let them leave/trade them away but he’s stayed Loyal to the best Caps players & Wiz players until Brooks/Tommy convinced him getting Westbrook would be better than retaining Wall who had had two injury plagued seasons after a great 2017-18 and signing his max deal.

I seriously want nothing to do with Leonsis and the Nats. The thought of him owning three underachieving teams with his worry over brand instead of success would tilt me.

Only good thing that would come of Ted buying the team is Soto would never leave. Other than that, we'd never with the world series again.

We won’t win it with the Lerners either, they won’t keep their talent, at least Leonsis keeps his talent that he drafts.

We already won it with the Lerners

Yeah but it’s not looking like it’s possible again. They won’t keep their young talent but strausburg who can’t stay healthy. Not keeping Rendon & Turner was stupid. I doubt Soto stays if the team isn’t winning. Soto wasn’t happy when they traded Schwarber, Turner & Scherzer last year.

How's that worked out?

It worked for the Caps remember how many people were saying blow it up with Ovi, Backstrom, Carlson, Kuzy & Oshie for like 4 years, the same year they won the cup some wanted to blow the team up bc they couldn’t win in the playoffs. Then, they go and win the whole damn thing!
