Still think this was probably at least a consideration in why they went FA QB instead of high draft pick QB and trying to patch in weapons via FA. Far from the biggest reason, but has to have been discussed. Just such a bung year to go shopping for receiving "weapons" in Free Agency. The top guys like Tate just aren't the type of guys i'd want to break the bank for...and they're pretty tied down to that deal for a few years at a big cap number now...while he ages into his mid-30s.
