This will be updated with pro days as well (at least as much as I can), and your help would be appreciated in making sure I don't let anyone fall through the cracks. The list of guys that clear will likely expand pretty significantly once pro days occur (a lot of guys don't run 40s, especially don't run 3-cones and shuttles, until their pro day). QB: GB doesn't have a long list here, mostly guys who are not super short, and also have some mobility. This is probably the least confident position for the thresholds. Thresholds: 6'1'', 4.8 40 Players: Jake Browning, Ryan Finley, Nick Fitzgerald, Tyree Jackson, Drew Lock, Easton Stick, Jordan Ta'amu, Clayton Thorson RB: Two types of RB, the big bruiser and the regular ZBS back. Thresholds: 205 lbs, 4.65 40, 7.0 3-cone Players: Ryquell Armstead, Alex Barnes, Miles Sanders, Dexter Williams WR: GB isn't likely to draft your favorite tiny WR. Consistently targeted big-athletic WRs. Thresholds: 5117 height, 4.6 40, 7.1 3-cone Players: Miles Boykin, Ashton Dulin, Bisi Johnson, DaMarkus Lodge, Terry McLaurin, Stanley Morgan, David Sills, Cody Thompson TE: Just straight-line speed thresholds here. Thresholds: 4.7 40 Players; Noah Fant, TJ Hockenson, Alize Mack, Foster Morequ, Josh Oliver, Irv Smith, Kahale Warring, Caleb Wilson OL: This one may have changed because Cole Madison did not fit. Not willing to junk it though after about 15 years of consistency. Thresholds: 7.7 3-cone, 4.75 shuttle Players: Paul Adams, Ryan Bates, Garrett Bradbury, Shaq Calhoun, Andre Dillard, Hjalte Froholdt, Chris Lindstrom, Kaleb McGary, Connor McGovern, Trey Pipkins, Dalton Risner EDGE: This is where I used the formulas. GB has largely drafted high-end athletes (except for Fackrell who was putrid). Thresholds: -1.21 Speed 40, -.65 Agility Players: Ben Banogu, Nick Bosa, Brian Burns, John Cominsky, Maxx Crosby, Jamal Davis, Rashan Gary, Montez Sweat, Chase Winovich, Josh Allen IDL: Same formulas. GB has done very well when they've stuck to the thresholds and really bad when they've strayed. Thresholds: -.3 Speed 40, .08 Agility Players: Khalen Saunders, Renell Wren LB: Not a lot of draft capital used here, generally like bigger guys who move well but don't want to spend high draft capital on them. Oren Burks in the 3rd was the highest pick GB has spent on an OBLB since AJ Hawk. Probably should get Devin White and Devin Bush out of your mocks. GB doesn't value the position. Thresholds: 4.8 40, 7.2 3-cone Players: Dakota Allen, Cody Barton, Ben Burr-Kirven, Devin Bush, Blake Cashman, Ryan Connelly, Justin Hollins, Sione Takitaki, Drue Tranquill, Devin White DB: Jaire stretched the height threshold a bit, but GB doesn't like tiny CBs. Like other positions, they want big guys who can move. Both CB and S seem to be similar so no distinction is shown here. HHCD and Quinten Rollins broke from these, so there's a chance the DB thresholds are a little less limiting than other positions. I don't think it's a coaching thing, I think it's a FO philosophy thing. Very small sample size on guys short of 32", but not a lot of success. More than a few successful guards and centers below 33" though: both Pounceys, Lindley, Pugh, DeCastro, etc. It matters less the closer you are to the ball, but it's a bit concerning. If I remember correctly I've found all drafted OL fell within those thresholds except Madison who was ever so slightly over some of the measures that it probably made little difference to our opinion of him at the time. The undrafted ones tend to fall outside some of these measures especially Lane Taylor but we do try out best to find undrafted players as close as possible to the thresholds. Basically if there is a group of guys within those thresholds you can pretty much guarantee they are on our list. Draft rumors, visits, combine interviews of OL more often than not tend to include OL that just so happens to be the same names on the list.
