I'm sure he can. I think he offers a little more than Harris at this point. But that's my opinion

I think you grossly underselling Harris. He's a veteran ST guy. Doesn't commit turnovers. Does his job very very well as far as decision making, etc.

I think you forget how miserable the KR/PRs were on this team for the longest time. Constant mistakes, turnovers and bad decisions. Harris is smart, consistent and a leader on that unit.  Why give up a known commodity for an unknown.

Also, he's been with the ST coach for a long time dating back to Dallas.

I don't disagree with any of that.  He's def a smart player which is what will keep him here.

funny are likely to cut Jelly, and already moved on from Depaulo. Two contracts I thought were a bit overpaid, initially thought Jelly was safe until 2020. Guys who are overpaid who might be gone by 2020

  • Gabe Jackson 9m - hes a good guard but he is getting paid like an all pro. he's had back to back injury plagued seasons, he needs to finish the year strong on Gruden could look to cut the cost and replace him with a new RG and use the money to pay Rodney Hudson new deal.
  • Tahir Whitehead 7.2M- let's see how he does in 2019, Gruden might revamp the LB in 2020
  • Erik Harris 2.5M- again see how he does, could cut him and use the money for Joseph new deal
  • Derek Carrier 1.8M- fringe player

that is about it

Wow, that is a lot of money for what Whitehead brings to the table. I'd definitely cut bait with him and look for similar production from Morrow or Lee I don't think there's much of a fall off to either one of those guys and Morrow is definitely a better cover linebacker. TBH I've not really noticed Carrier at all apart from that one Hard Knocks TD catch, he seems expensive for his production.

With regard to the DTs and DEs I'm one of those who believe you can't have too much strength in a rotation, I'd likely keep 9 or 10 guys on the DL and rotate them heavily to try and generate pass rush. At this moment in time I'd probably go with Ferrell, Key, Mayowa, Crosby, Westbrook at DE and Hurst, Hankins, Ellis, Hall and Rush at DT with maybe Ellis on IR with designation to return. Is Vanderdoes elligible for PS as I'd try and keep him there if possible, I still think he's worth keeping around as I really liked him as a prospect.

I made a list of players we should cut a few months ago and Carrier I believe is the last player left.  We cut Wilson so he might make it but I think we could find a similar player for less.

exactly the game is still won with a franchise QB, and both trenches. that is where you invest. then star with stars when you can land them

Why keep two backup swing tackles instead of extra depth on the interior. Good can step into an OT role in a pinch if needed.

Sharpe can kick inside....   the last cut was James or Peterman. I would keep James and develop him an OL depth, but I feel Gruden really like Peterman for some reason. Real easy to get down to 53

I won't be surprised if Sharpe and Parker are both released tomorrow and we target a veteran OT on the waiver wire. Neither guy did enough in preseason to inspire confidence if Miller or Brown miss time this year.
