Packers signing Former Bears Safety Adrian Amos

Good/above average player, not a lot of ball skills (3 picks in 3 years), smart player most of the time (unless he's hammering Ertz down the sideline for no reason in a playoff game or miscounting the number of players on the field resulting in an Eagles TD), hard hitter

Good signing for the Packers assuming the money isn't nuts (but it's free agency so it probably will be)

Good tackle total. He's either targeted alot and forced to get his man down (not so good) - or he's chasing plays down (good).
Good PBU / PD total.

Honest Assessment

Positives

-His 2 biggest assets are durability and reliability

-He is a good tackler

-He does not blow assignments

-He is solid in the 2 deep zone

Negatives

-Do not put him in man coverage, he was exposed when Jackson was injured

-He does not have the range to play single high, he always has Jackson beside him

-He does not make a ton of big plays, prior to his 2 INTs this season he had 1 in 3 years and Hicks called him spatula hands.

Amos is super reliable, which in the Packers secondary is not something to turn away. But Amos got good when Jackson was drafted and he was no longer asked to do the FS type stuff in the defense.

The Packers need to use him that way.

Amos and Za'Darius Smith (if they get him) will allow a lot more flexibility come draft day. Very glad to see the Packers get veteran deals in two positions that badly need players. Not the super-sexy Antonio Brown/Landon Collins type deal, but probably much smarter deals than those two. Smith WILL be expensive though (don't know about Amos, but safeties are getting top dollar this year).

That's not a 3rd round comp this year, lucky if it's a 4th.
