third rounder is my guess

Congrats on your 85 million dollar contract ford

I don't think he gets that much.  I think more like 5 and 65 with 1/2 guaranteed.   I think he is thrilled to get a long term deal out of it.

we overpay everyone.

We don't give them favorable terms, we always have outs and we do funny things to ensure flexibility down the road, but free agents make us pay for it. This front office has literally overpaid everyone they've ever signed (starting two years ago)

We just gave kwon alexander 14 million per year as an off ball LB, you really think ford will get 13 per year when guys like Za'darius Smith get 17 million on the open market and when the tag for edge guys is 17?

2nd round pick as return?

Matt Miller (take it fwiw) said that it would be the 49ers third, but it would be Ford + coming back. So maybe like a third for Ford and 6th or something?

No way he gets only 13. It'll be structured in a funky way where he gets a ton up front - probably like 19 million this year. He won't get a huge SB or anything. It'll likely be a 2 year deal fluffed out to 5. So think something like 5/80, or 5/85, but really 2 / 39, or something along those lines.

For Dee Ford?  I don't get it then at all.  Hell just sign Justin Houston for two years then.

In fairness, he was a total wrecking ball last year. I'll give him that. Obviously his career has been spotty though.

I also don't absolutely love the fit given we run a 4-3. He's more comfortable standing up I think. All his sacks but two last year came with him standing up. But for a third and what will likely be a short term big deal, I don't have a lot of issues with it, because if last year was legit (and that's a big if), it's totally going to be worth it.
