Whats he supposed to say? Of course he’d rather face Bortles

Obviously, doesn't mean if we get league average at worst QB play there's a good chance of competing...which I'm sure isn't something Ballard is looking forward to.

He’s better but lets not act like Foles is a top-10 qb right now

Top 10? No.

Top 15 give or take? I think there's a good argument.

That's quite a bit better than where we were last year.

Yea I suppose even the 20th best QB helps. We just have so many ifs when it comes to our weapons:

If Lee returns 100% and stays healthy

If Chark takes a step forward and looks more like the guy we saw in camp

If Cole gets his head out of his arse

If Conley really does have a good on field rapport with Foles

If we have a TE worth throwing the ball to on 3rd and 10

Not to mention the OL

Will we have a competent RT?

Will Cam Robinson return 100% and be as good as before(which wasnt amazing but doable)

Will Norwell prove his worth or close to it?

Will Linder stay healthy?

Blake was arguably top 15-20 in 2017 when he hit his stride.

The difference is that Foles can operate in a timing-based passing offense, something Blake couldn't do.

I think being able to hit quick hitters with Foles will really help everyone in this offense

At the end of the day, you could extend that list a lot further.  And since cutting Gipson, we've opened up some questions with our defense as well.

But ultimately...the idea is, we don't need BDN to be a superstar franchise QB.  We need him to just not suck too bad.  If everything else goes right, we just need him to be a Top-15/20 QB and we could be real competitive.  He's a guy who has shown that at the right times...he can be more than that too.

It's where BDN is the litmus test of this regime's ability to build a team.  If this is still a losing team with Foles...it'll scream away that they can't build a good team and 2017 was a fluke.  If they can do some winning and look like a real team...it'll be vindication for the building ability of this group, outside of their real bad QB whiff with Bortle.

Either way...we find out what's what this year.
