Madridista
Teams with decent QBs continue to use "what other option do we have?" as though it's a valid justification when it comes to contracts. Altogether, the decision-making processes front offices go through regarding QBs (in the league and in the draft) are not good
riceman80
Stafford is worth it. He is that offense. He was MVP caliber last year despite a non-existent running game and no Megatron. 3000+ yards, 21 TDS, and just 5 picks before he hurt his finger. And he won at least half their games last year in the last 5 minutes. Good for him

TitanSlim
I saw that Stafford has a career record of 5-46 record against teams with winning records. That's crazy to me.

That's crazy to me. Happens when you take over for the worst team in history that was incapable of building a defense, offensive line, or stable of running backs. This is huge for the Lions, honestly. This won't really have a negative impact on their cap space because they were already basically paying him this much to begin with. If this reduces his cap hit this year (convert salary to bonus), this could open up the opportunity for the Lions to trade for a player like Sheldon Richardson, who would provide a much needed boost to this teams embarrassing pass rush. And, if they don't open up extra cap space this year, that leaves additional room to sign some of the other players on the roster such as Ezekiel Ansah, Travis Swanson, Nevin Lawson, Tahir Whitehead, and potentially even someone like Greg Robinson if he continues to impress.
