He was getting paid atleast $6.5m total this season, The Jags would be responsible for the offset money (remaining dollars) from what his new deal is. So we paid him $1m, the Jags are responsible for the other $5.5m. If there were for some reason a bidding war (not likely with this scinario) and some team paid him $5m then the Jags would be responsible for the remaining $1.5m Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes it works out with this offset language in contracts that Jacksonville would have to pay the difference between what he signed for and the $6.5 million in his contracts offset money.
