Cam Erving won when he signed, 2018 was fully guaranteed and he had 4.3 million signing bonus. So his dead cap would have been over 5 million after he just signed a 3 year 8 million dollar deal.

He isn't great, has been cut since then but Cam Erving pretty much had to start or at least make the roster due to his contract.
