Dude was clearly washed last year, his body is just spent. Yeah, he could still play a couple of years as a blocking specialist based on how good he was last year - but this way he can walk away from the game without a completely broken body. But he was gearing up to be healthy all year for the one game that he had consistently either missed or been too injured in to really participate; the Super Bowl. In that game at least, against the Rams, Gronkowski wasn't "washed".

I’m not saying Grono wasn’t passionate about football but retiring early is usually either 1) Not as passionate as others 2) Worried about life long injuries If he stays in football as a coach or broadcaster then I won’t question his passion for the sport. "Passion" lol, when you're dealing with debilitating injuries that will last the rest of your life.

I said he might of retired due to fear of long term injuries. Reply with what you disagree with, not just a troll emotional comment.

I mean when you have to basically save the last bit of energy and separation ability until the last game of the year, yeah you're pretty well washed as a receiver. Still has the body to block but he was absolutely, unequivocally not an effective player as a receiver for even the parts of the season where he was 80% healthy. The Bills MNF game he was a total shell of himself. He can't get natural separation anymore.

I don't think my reply needs an explanation, anyone can see how ridiculous your take is.
Kmart128
Heck of a career. But after the Tre White incident he lost all of my respect.

DreamKid
Gronkowski was The Mountain to Belichick's Tywin Lannister.
ET80
Fun player to watch, a freak of nature out there. Doubtful we'll see anyone dominate a position like that - for a while, Gronk was the undisputed best at his position with nobody really around to challenge him. So does Belly look at one of the Iowa TEs in the draft?

I still really like the brate fit. 7 million isn't onerous, he's been a quality player even if not always very good, and it allows them to keep their first.
