nextsuperstar1
With Gronk announcing his retirement today, where does he rank among tightends in the history of the sport? Is he better than Tony Gonzalez, Antio Gates, ect? Does his dominant peak (and superior blocking ability) trump the other contenders longevity? candyman93
Yes, pretty easily.

Asciimo
best TE to ever do it. if your go to argument is longevity then gronk has already won.
bigbadbuff23835
Not even close. He’s far and away the best ever.
ET80
I'll still go with Gonzalez, simply because of health and longevity. Pure ability, it's Gronk - but Gonzalez was a rock out there and Gronk couldn't stay heathly. It's not cut and dry, but that's how I see it.
Glen
He is the best to ever play the position. But Gates and Gonzalez are greater. If needed for one season I'd take Gronk 10/10, over the course of a career I'd take the other two 10/10.

Dr LBC
A lot, and I mean A LOT, of people in this thread who apparently have no clue who Kellen Winslow is. I'd actually say that his case over Gronk is stronger than Gates'; and I think Gronk edges out Gates.
AlNFL19
I'd say yes. Probably should've had a poll here tbh.

He set milestones that only Gronk was able to break, but he did it in an era that was way, WAY less passer friendly (particularly to the TE). Literally, without Kellen Winslow Sr. there would be no Rob Gronkowski, no Tony Gonzalez, they would likely have been playing different positions.
LETSGOBROWNIES
He’s the best I’ve ever seen at their peak. Othera have had more impressive overall careers when longevity is factored in.
Apparition
Gronk is the Aaron Rodgers of TEs Tony Gonzalez is the Tom Brady of TEs Gronk is the best to ever play, Gonzo is the GOAT.
