CKSteeler
The question I have is whether McDonald is the best use of cap space even for this year, regardless of future risk. Presumably, the FO is more aware of their options than we/I am.
armsteeld
Wow! You guys are slipping big time on McDonald. He will be a great addition because he can run, catch, and block. He is also very tough and has that swag for the position. Deceptively fast for a 6'4 270 pound TE who ran a 4.67 at the combine. With the WR talent on the Steelers, expect Vance to eat up Safeties and LBs. I wanted McDonald when he was coming out of Rice a couple years ago. Coming soon to a stadium near you... Oh yeah. I noticed noone has mentioned this but the Steelers signed rookie WR from Georgia Tech Justin Thomas. Thomas who is 5'11 187 ran a 4.33 at his pro day. He is transitioning to WR after being an option QB at Georgia Tech. Remember the Steelers had a crush on Jerrick McKinnon but chose Dri Archer (who I thought would be a nice weapon). Thomas is insanely quick and can dodge rain during a rainstorm! IF he progresses as a Specialist/WR, then watch out for him in the slot.
43M
Im guessing we traded for him primarily for his blocking ability and depth. He has mediocre hands and runs poor routes. This wont really affect Jesse James at all IMO. Vance isnt starter quality. Jesse James really isnt either, but he has more dependable hands than McDonald and isnt a bad blocker. Might dip into James playing time a bit if he shows something....or he might just be yet another player we trade for and then hardly utilize.
