Carr defender to the rescue here...xD

So before he got paid he broke his finger and played, then his leg and got paid. After paid breaks his back and tries to win the Dallas game but lost the ball...Yep dude has no heart, toughness or desire to win. All about the bennies...

Carr might be too nice and trying to please others and maybe a little too goody goody God/Jesus type compared to the stories I know of when the cops would escort our QB's back to their hotel after tying one on all night at the bar. Even Hoss kicked and spit once he donned the silver and black.Johnny Fotball is probably more our fan bases speed. Though he doesn't party as hard as Todd Moron-O-Vich

I'll agree that Carr doesn't have any excuses being we've spent most of our money on the Offense and still have no defense. Maybe he'll be like Romo and get the job done but never get the big one, but as long as he wears the silver and black, I'll have his back. If he leaves I'll root for him just like I do Mack as I thank both of them for digging us out even if it was a 'fluke/lucky' season. Still felt good to have an MVP talked about QB, Defensive MVP and a playoff run cut short due to Carr's injury. We were talked about as the ones to challenge the Pats. We would have been like Philly last season. Maybe not the best but the best when it mattered.

He's already a success in my book. Looks shell shocked at the moment and needs to forget past injuries. Mahomes has fans thinking that a star QB is easy to find. There's a reason Romo had a gig as long as he did. Carr is Romo level with the chance to be much better. Trading away his best friend right before the season affected him and add his injuries the past few seasons and no wonder fans have turned on him. You won't be calling me out as I don't think I'll ever have hate for Carr. If we draft a guy and he BEATS him then all good. Draft position usually wins out but if Grier fell to the 4th and he beats out Carr then Carr will be my favorite back up QB and I'll be rooting for Grier's success. I just want to win and I'd like to see some kind of loyalty at some point. Best plan is to build the team around Carr and draft a back up to groom. If Carr can't get it done and letting him go allows us to get over the hump, then I'm all for it but right now the vision looks like to get revenge on Al for trading Gruden. LOL

Edit: At least Carr didn't 'give up' like a lot of other players. Saying something about that to the media was cringy at the time but seeing the moves we made makes sense. I think some of his teammates feel the way the fans here do. Some of us think he's our QB and others want him off and under the bus. Time will tell...

Here's the last two posts from two other threads. Carry on.

What a throwback. It's always funny seeing the old forum and old school posters.

I went on there a couple times to post here and there.  I've been following this forum and the old forum for years.  I just never really cared to post until recently.

This is the hard part to explain.  Carr can have and show heart when pumping up his team and when it is time to step on the field but as soon as he feels some heat he panics.  He does not sit there and make a conscious decision to be a coward.  I do not think anyone believes that.  It is more like, sorry another GOT reference, when the Hound sees fire.  He does not want to run away but also refuses to face his greatest fear.  I think shell shocked would be a better description but he needs to recognize this and deal with it.  He will not be a good leader and worth his contract until he does.

Hopefully I'm able to get the conversation fully focused in this thread.  Tired of us getting off topic and slowly transitioning to multiple DC conversations in 3-4 different threads.

Thank you.  I was about to move it over myself.  I would love to see the stuff I wrote about Carr in the previous forum.  I know in the previous forum, in 2016, I had some of the same opinions.

Yeah I was actually scrolling through.  Pretty interesting how the people still around have pretty much had the same opinions and stances ICO DC.  Roughly 75 pages regarding DC in the last forum and it was crazy to see our opinion of him in 2014 and after his 2016 season.  There were some true believers around that time lol.  I think we all have very similar opinions about him regarding pocket presence and bonehead plays (throwing off the back foot; throwing the ball away on 4th), but we still have differing opinions regarding whether or not he should be our franchise QB.

I still think he's going to take a huge step in the right direction this year.  Eventually I think everything will fall into place with him, especially if he's afforded the opportunity to continue to learn J. Gruden's playbook for 3+ years.  Gruden will help him.  I'm a DC believer.  I think he's going to be a really great QB for the foreseeable future. just my opinion.

I hope so.  No matter our opinion of him we should all be in agreement that we would like to see him succeed for the sake of the team.

Awesome job Jerry. Every thread would get hijacked by Carr talk.

Huge fan of Carr, but I do have my reservations and I don’t think he can miraculously fix the things that hold him back from being a top 10 QB. I hope I’m wrong and I eat all the humble pie.

I had a different name in the old forum but I was a Carr believer early on.

Two things if I’m Gruden I would need to see from Carr is a better deep ball. Carr floats it at times when he should just zip it and then zips it when he should put more air in it. With the WRs the Raiders have now it’s very important that his deep ball improves.

Also need to see him use his legs. So many times it was 3rd down and he could have easily ran for a first down, but decided to throw a pass that had a low percentage of being completed. Carr plays like he has P.Manning type of mobility which just baffles me.

I don't agree ICO his deep ball.  I do agree with scrambling.  I don't think he needs to scramble for 50 yards a game, but scrambling a couple times a game can be a huge difference maker.

Instead of focusing on the things Carr does bad, what do you think he does well?

When he throws off his front foot he throws very precise bullets.  There was one throw to J. Nelson last season that sliced right through two defenders that was incredible.  He sometimes throws such precise, quick passes that you just wish they looked like that every single play.

He's obviously a very well liked leader.  I think the only time there was any issue regarding his leadership was with that rumor regarding his OL giving up on him last season came up, but that's about it.

He's a great study, evidenced by his ability to play well even after having gone through 4-5 different OCs since he came into the league.  I couldn't imagine having to learn a new playbook every 1-2 years.  I feel for the guy, but he takes it in stride.

He rises to the occasion late in games.  His 4th quarter comebacks are impressive.  I wrote this before in another thread, the guy has 16 fourth quarter comebacks in 5 years in the league.  Which is pretty impressive.  Same as A. Luck and one less than R. Wilson.
