C0LTSFAN4L1F3
I posted something similar to this years ago but nobody seemed to care, but somebody asked about standardizing people's careers into 16 games in another thread: Quote Id be interested in seeing Rivers standardized career stats vs Brady, Peyton, Brees and Rodgers. He asked about Rivers and how his career stats compare to Brady, Peyton, Brees and Rodgers. It was an interesting question, but it's extremely unfair to just compare their careers because Rivers played his entire career after the 04' rule changes while Peyton, Brady, and to a lesser extent Brees played a signifcant time in the previous rules when it was harder to pass. So I thought maybe people would be interested in seeing the player's careers standardized into a single 16-game season and with the associated efficiency stats there. In this case, only seasons past 04' are considered. In the interest of fairness, I also excluded the numbers that Rodgers accumulated off the balance because the games are computed only as the games started rather than the total games they played in. I don't know, I find it interesting and I figured at least one other person may be interested so I figured I would post these if anyone wants to take a look. Tom Brady: 365-566, 4364 yards, 32.4 Touchdowns, 9.6 Interceptions, 99.9 passer rating 64.5 CMP%, 7.70 Y/A, 5.72TD%, 1.70 INT%, 99.9 passer rating Drew Brees: 409-601, 4666 yards, 33.3 Touchdowns, 13.7 Interceptions, 100.1 passer rating 68.1 CMP%, 7.76 Y/A, 5.53TD%, 2.28 INT%, 100.1 passer rating Peyton Manning: 376-564, 4428 yards, 35.0 Touchdowns, 13.3 Interceptions, 101.2 passer rating 66.6 CMP%, 7.85 Y/A, 6.20TD%, 2.35 INT%, 101.2 passer rating Philip Rivers: 340-528, 4124 yards, 28.2 Touchdowns, 13.4 Interceptions, 95.6 passer rating 64.5 CMP%, 7.81 Y/A, 5.34TD%, 2.54 INT%, 95.6 passer rating Aaron Rodgers: 356-550, 4315 yards, 34.1 Touchdowns, 8.0 Interceptions, 103.5 passer rating 64.9 CMP%, 7.84 Y/A, 6.20TD%, 1.45 INT%, 103.5 passer rating A couple interesting notes about the numbers across this time: Brady's and Rodger's INT rate is significantly below everyone else's. Peyton's 15' season was so amazingly horrible that including it reduced his passer rating during this time frame by a full 2 points. Despite Rodgers playing dramatically fewer games than any of Brees, Rodgers, Brady, he took more sacks total during this time frame. Rodgers' passer rating is over 2 full points over anyone else's during this time frame. Rivers lags way behind in quite literally almost every category with the exception of Y/A. Also, please, no comments about the fact that I'm a Colts fan, that's getting really annoying. You address the content of somebody's post not the person themselves. Hunter2_1
Despite Rodgers playing dramatically fewer games than any of Brees, Rodgers, Brady, he took more sacks total during this time frame. Rodgers' passer rating is over 2 full points over anyone else's during this time frame. Maybe the two are intrinsically linked.. Nice post. Shows how amazing Manning and Rodgers are in the regular season. Rivers right there too. As with all things stat based though, it misses the context. For example, for most of Brady's career - he was asked to put the entire offense on his arm (that stat of wins whilst passing over 50 times shows this) but also enjoyed plenty of games with such a huge lead, that he could just hand it off or heave it up and see. Rivers has had good weapons, but the stats don't show that he's always asked to perform 4th quarter miracles, or overcome a poor OL etc. Out of interest, did you find who has the most throw-aways? Rodgers, last season, smashed the record but I wonder how that affects rating

Rivers is on the verge statistically, and I'd like to see him get a ring to solidify a HoF induction.

They most definitely are, but I wanted to keep the OP just as the data and observations rather than any rationalizations or opinions of mine. 11 hours ago, Hunter2_1 said: Nice post. He's below everybody in every category besides Y/A, and he's significantly behind in most things. Also, here are Peyton's numbers without considering 2015 where he was a walking corpse: 379-566, 4480 yards, 36.3 Touchdowns, 12.4 Interceptions, 103.1 passer rating 67.0 CMP%, 7.91 Y/A, 6.41TD%, 2.19 INT%, 103.1 passer rating His passer rating is right there with Rodgers, and Rodgers took quite literally roughly 2.5x as many sacks in roughly the same amount of games. It's not fair to compare stats 1 for 1 pre and post 04, but you also have to consider that Peyton is the only QB of the bunch to have hit his prime by 04. C0LTSFAN4L1F3
Here's six other QB's standardized stats just because I felt like it: (Excluding rookie years) Joe Flacco: 353-570, 3839 yards, 21.6 Touchdowns, 13.5 Interceptions, 84.4 passer rating 61.9 CMP%, 6.73 Y/A, 3.78TD%, 2.37 INT%, 84.4 passer rating Andrew Luck: 379-608, 4410 yards, 33.8 Touchdowns, 14.9 Interceptions, 92.6 passer rating 62.4 CMP%, 7.25 Y/A, 5.56TD%, 2.44 INT%, 92.6 passer rating Matthew Stafford: 387-614, 4428 yards, 27.4 Touchdowns, 13.3 Interceptions, 90.5 passer rating 63.1 CMP%, 7.21 Y/A, 4.46TD%, 2.17 INT%, 90.5 passer rating Cam Newton: 300-504, 3651 yards, 24.1 Touchdowns, 13.5 Interceptions, 86.7 passer rating 59.6 CMP%, 7.24 Y/A, 4.77TD%, 2.67 INT%, 86.7 passer rating Ben Roethisberger: 350-544, 4243 yards, 27.4 Touchdowns, 14.2 Interceptions, 94.1 passer rating 64.3 CMP%, 7.79 Y/A, 5.03TD%, 2.60 INT%, 94.1 passer rating Matt Ryan: 383-584, 4382 yards, 28.3 Touchdowns, 9.1 Interceptions, 97.7 passer rating 65.7 CMP%, 7.50 Y/A, 4.84TD%, 1.56 INT%, 97.7 passer rating Russel Wilson: 307-478, 3751 yards, 28.3 Touchdowns, 8.8 Interceptions, 100.4 passer rating 64.3 CMP%, 7.85 Y/A, 5.93TD%, 1.85 INT%, 100.4 passer rating Eli Manning: 337-557, 3941 yards, 25.4 Touchdowns, 16.5 Interceptions, 84.8 passer rating 60.6 CMP%, 7.07 Y/A, 4.55TD%, 2.96 INT%, 84.8 passer rating Wilson's numbers look pretty damn good efficiency wise, but his volume is much lower than anyone else, is what I think is the most interesting here. sammymvpknight
Passer rating benefits QBs who take sacks versus throw incompletions. Brees, Brady, and Manning are very good in this regard...Wilson, Rodgers, and Rivers are not.

Based on what exactly? His comp% is same as Brady and .4 less than Rodgers. His YPA is better than some and there with others. His td% is .19 under Brees. His int% is .19 higher than Peyton. His passer rating is 4.3 under Brady. Id say those are all relatively close. Especially considering unlike 3 of them, Rivers did it in differing situations (4 diff head coaches). Kiwibrown
How does everyone rank the strength of each organization? At some the point the tools around a guy effects his play, whether it is oline, skill players or defense. The colts and san deigo would be at the bottom of the pile by a wide margin imo.
