Well...apparently the FO thought that he sucked as much as almost everyone else here, save 1 soul.

IIRC, there was definitely more than one or two people last offseason who thought Kindred should start over Peppers.

With that said, not a big loss. He's okay as a backup but offers nothing more beyond that. We were going to add a SS regardless of having Kindred or not.

If ppl think, no achilles or no knee movement skills Eric Berry or foot in sand no discipline Morgan Burnett or even worse Mike Mitchell are better than Kindred then you lot are delusional and only name scouting.

I saw no harm in keeping him as a two deep average starter in the event that our rookie struggles year 1.

No surprise imo, you can find a mediocre box safety for a lot less than 2 million.

When we pay Eric Berry 5 million his name will surely get the masses erect immediately... his play and ability to move upon further review will give them an innie.

We'll see how it goes. After seeing some more concepts on the defensive schemes run by Wilks, I don't think the standard box-safety is good for his style. Someone like Morgan Burnett or Tre Boston fit those concepts a lot better than Derrick Kindred.

Then burn a high pick (2nd or 3rd) in the draft on a coverage safety who excels in zone concepts and there's our depth right there. Let them battle it out in camp.

I didn’t realize with the defense we’re going to be running that it calls for interchangeable safeties.  I thought it would be like regular cover 3 based defenses like a Seattle where your safeties have their defined roles.

If we’re looking for interchangeable pieces definitely go get Tre Boston.

And in the draft I want Juan Thornill he’s going to be my guy

I've been on the Juan Thornhill train since I started watching film pre-combine.

Yeah I liked him a lot definitely looks like a first round player

but he’s a FS, but if we’re going to be running an interchangeable type scheme I guess that’s ok he’s definitely got the range you look for

Interchangeable still means you have to have a run support specialist and in WIlks' scheme that player has to be an enforcer around the box. That's not Randall at all and that's not Thornhill. He's really nice jack of all trades FS prospect, but imo I still don't see the fit given our current personnel.

I guess you could take a wild stab on what you think Chauncey Gardener-Johnson will pan out as in the NFL, which really depends if 2018 was an anomaly or drastic and sustained growth. I know BTC has been pimping Jaquan Johnson, but I don't have enough feel for his game tape to make a positive outlook with any certitude.

I'm not a fan of Jaquan Johnson except in the later rounds.

CGJ is a nickel player exclusively with a lot of FS upside ability.

Jonathan Abram,Taylor Rapp, Darnell Savage, and Sheldrick Redwine would all be players I'd have above CGJ as SS and box players with Rapp being the most limited of the group but really good at what he does.

I guess I just have Abram written off because I believe he has a high likelihood of being taken in the 1st round. Rapp might be around closer to us at #49, but still think he will require a trade up to secure. And I'm not a fan of that considering how much overall defensive talent I believe this draft has through the first 4 Rounds.
