RamsFan24
In this mock I decided to stay put and grab the best available talent at our spot in the first. I feel that we would feel some holes with nice quality depth and talent. NFL Draft Round 1 Pick #31 Dexter Lawrence-NT, Clemson The Rams are extremely excited about Lawrence falling to our pick late in the draft. This kid will immediately come in and fill the whole left by Suh. Dexter is a big and powerful athlete with elite quickness and vision for his size. Lawrence just manhandled the lineman in front off him with his explosive first steps and power. He is going to be a nightmare in the run and especially in the pass along side AD. Wade is so excited at the team that we our putting together. Dexter will give us a very dangerous defensive line front that no one is going to want to face. Round 3 Pick #31 Darnell Savage-FS/CB, Maryland Another great pick up for the Rams which will give us some much needed versatility and depth in the secondary. We grab a very talented safety to replace LaMarcus Joyner/ Weddle in the future. Savage is a playmaker who has elite speed and range, he is a hard hitter and has good vision. Wade can utilize Savage in his different packages where he is a safety, corner or extra coverage linebacker when needed. This could be another 3rd round steal at Safety like Johnson was a couple years ago. Round 3 Pick #37 Germaine Pratt-ILB, N.C. State Germaine is a strong and physical freak with great sideline to sideline speed. He will come in and immediately compete with Micah Kiser for the ILB spot that is open from Barron's release. Pratt is an absolute tackling machine who has great vision and sheds blocks really well. Germaine will come in and help bolster the run defense, as he was great against the run and is very solid in pass coverage. Pratt has all the intangibles to be a really good inside linebacker in Wade Phillips defense. Round 4 Pick #31 Michael Jordan-C/G, Ohio State The Rams decide to grab a very talented offensive talent in this years draft. Now Michael can come in and learn and compete with Brian Allen for the future starting spot. Michael is extremely talented, he is a very good run blocker and a good pass protector. Learning from the vets like Whitworth will serve him well. Round 5 Pick #31 Joe Jackson-OLB, Miami The Rams run up to the podium and grab an pass rushing specialist in Joe. Jackson drops here simply because of some consistency issues at Miami. Coach Barry and Phillips should be able to tap into this young man in order to get the most out of him. Jackson has excellent speed and length off the edge and a solid base in run defense. Joe will come in and learn behind Clay as a rotational specialist. Round 6 Pick #31 Travis Homer-RB, Miami The Rams decide to grab another back with some nice speed and power in Homer. Travis comes here along with Joe from the U, he could be a rotational pass catching specialist for us. Travis averaged 6.0 yards a carry where he was just hard to bring done sometimes. Homer has home run speed also, which doesn't hurt at all. Round 7 Pick #37 Easton Stick-QB, North Dakota State The Rams take a flyer on a developmental QB late in the draft. He was a winner who made some very nice throws since Carson Wentz left. Easton has some explosive running ability and some nice intangibles in order for Sean to try and develop. Projected Starters QB: Jared Goff HB: Todd Gurley XWR: Brandin Cooks ZWR: Robert Woods SLWR: Cooper Kupp TE: Tyler Higbee / Gerald Everett LT: Andrew Whitworth LG:Joseph Noteboom C: Brian Allen / Michael Jordan RG: Austin Blythe RT: Rob Havenstein 5T: Michael Brockers NT: Dexter Lawrence 3T: Aaron Donald WOLB: Dante Fowler Mo LB: Cory Littleton Mike LB: Germaine Pratt / Micah Kiser SOLB: Clay Mathews / Samson Ebukam RCB: Aqib Talib LCB: Marcus Peters SLCB: Nickell Robey-Coleman FS: Eric Weddle SS: John Johnson K: Greg Zuerlein P: Johnny Hekker LS: Jake McQuaide
LeotheLion
Tough not to like this direction. I do think Savage being there in the 3rd is a bit of a reach. I think he his stock is going to be between pick 25-40 come draft day. I know nothing about Pratt but based on how the team has treated the ILB position I think we'd probably look at a direction position there. I'd prefer flipping the Homer/RB pick to the 3rd and take someone like Montgomery and then pick a developmental LBer later. Overall though anything with Lawrence at 31 is something I can get behind. He's in my top 3 favorite guys we can snag there.
RamsFan24
Appreciate the feedback, yes I love me some Dexter Lawrence also. I keep seeing all over the place, so I wouldn't be shocked if he went a lot earlier than his 3rd Round projection. I see why you would want a top tier RB in the draft. But we still have Gurly, Brown and Kelly. I just don't see why we need to go that high when we have an elite RB and a very good back up in Brown. I think filling the whole at ILB would be a bigger need. Our run Defense wasn't good last year. Getting a big run stuffer NT and an strong and physical ILB would do wonders for our Defense.
