Post Pre-Season Expectations

I know we had this thread on the last forum about what to expect for this coming season but a lot of trades for corners have happened since then so what are your expectations for this coming season now that we have seen the starters play all the snaps they will.

How many games do you think the eagles will win? Will we make the playoffs?

I think this is more like pre-post-pre-season expectations since the pre-season isn't technically over yet.

Eagles will be 16-0 because the Ginger Jesus will raise his hands and say "Let Their Be Touchdowns" And the profit Jeffrey will say "It shall be done." Praise be unto the Ginger Jesus. I bring you gifts of rifles and fishing rods to please you. lIpDAGN.gif

My expectations have moved up a bit since the beginning of pre-season.

1. The NFCE is a mess

When we started the pre-season there were already questions about the Giants and Redskins. I think Eli is on the decline, is turnover prone, and nowadays it's just the Odell Beckham reality TV show, fighting, crying, and affectionately making up with kicking nets. And Washington has a quarterback that hates his team. Yeah, that's not going anywhere. The big thing was Dallas having so many off-field issues. I think their problems opens this thing wide open. We probably don't win the division with a healthy Dallas team that isn't spending time at the county jail.

2. Defensive improvements

The CB situation has massively improved with Darby. That just means Mills will get picked on in all of his finger-wagging glory, but at least we don't have to see Patrick Robinson or someone else play on the outside where they shouldn't be. I don't know why some people are high on Mills when all he did was fail last year. "Oh but he was a 7th round rookie" OK well now he's a 7th round 2nd year player. Whatever deficiencies resulted in every team passing him over in the draft showed last season, and I wouldn't expect a competent CB this year. Sorry.

The defensive front has looked really good. Not perfect, but maybe that pipe dream of getting pressure with the front 4 is actually close to being reality. I really like this group, and expect them to lead the way for the defense. I think this is the only unit that actually has given me more expectations based on pre-season play, and they were already a highlight of the team.

3. Health

No major injuries. Not much more to be said.

The one area that disappointed in the pre-season is special teams. How many times did Fipp look like he was going to murder someone?

I don't think you can read too much into that. During the preseason they are just mixing and matching guys

Depth guys play special teams. The depth guys were messing up. Yeah, some of those guys won't even be on the team or on the special teams, but many of them will. I don't think they're randomly mixing and matching guys for special teams, besides the returners. Besides, all I said was that the special teams were disappointing, and they were. With that said I understand that isn't the final first team ST either.
