I'll be honest, that was probably way too technical. . Definitely not intended for the average player. I don't know what the hell he was talking about at times.

It seemed like something that was intended for developers, even though most of the people watching were just gamers like us.

Man Xbox fans are gonna have a blast playing forza and halo on it

True, but Xbox are working on new exclusives.  All it takes is to have a few hits and they'll be fine.  That's a big concern for sure, but games can be developed.  An underpowered CPU and GPU can't be changed.

Games CAN be developed, but Microsoft hasnt done it.

They have never really had great exclusives.  If Sony happens to acquire the big Konomi IPs as rumored, Microsoft is in big trouble.

Saying they've never had great exclusives is a bit harsh.  Obviously that's your opinion, so everyone can respect that.  It's crazy how people forget back in 2006 or so when the PS3 and Xbox 360 were coming out.  Back then, the Xbox was the console that had the most exciting console exclusives - Gears of War was an insanely great and popular game and Halo was still in it's prime.  Back then there was no The Last of Us, Uncharted, Bloodborne, Nioh, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, rebooted God of War.

Things have obviously done a complete 180 and Sony clearly has the better list of exclusives without a doubt.  Microsoft needs to develop new games.  We'll see what they have in store.  One thing Sony still hasn't been able to do is create a first party multiplayer game that has become as iconic as their single player games.  They tried with Killzone, which I thought was a solid game, but it ultimately flopped.

That graphic is new.  Any old graphics were just rumors or leaks.  Those are actually the official specs for the Ps5.

Here's the skinny on both consoles.

PS5 has much faster SSD

Series X has faster GPU and CPU

That's not exactly accurate to say, the series X GPU is not faster than the the PS5 gpu, it's Max frequency is actually slower but the PS5 using a variable frequency won't always be running at the faster speed.

The CPU in the series X has a higher Max frequency but again both consoles won't always be running at the max speed.

The series X is theoretically the more powerful console in terms of raw specs but not by much and it doesn't necessarily mean it will translate to better performance and I certainly wouldn't expect it to be a massive difference.

I've heard that's the opposite from people within the industry.  They say that the 10.28 teraflops listed for the PS5 is max.  It's actually 9.2 tfs.

Yeah Xbox during the 360, and even the OG Xbox had great exclusives.
They just let a lot of their talent go or did it with 3rd parties.
They should’ve bought BioWare and not let them go. Not crunched Bungie so far on Halo.
Mass Effect and Destiny being exclusives would've been huge during the period where their exclusives dried up

They've been pretty awful outside the their support of indies. A ton of exclusives they announced died before release. Scalebound, Fable Legends, a couple others.
I think they were trying to chase trends instead of just support teams to do their own thing.

It's encouraging the huge swings they’ve done with acquisitions the last few years.
The studios they've had since the start of the PS4/Xbox One gen

  • 343 Industries (Halo)
  • Rare (Sea of Thieves)
  • The Coalition (Gears)
  • Turn 10 (Forza Motorsport)
  • Playground Hames [as a 2nd party] (Forza Horizon)

343 dropped the ball on Halo 5, Sea of Thieves has been a niche success, Coalition released two good Gears games...but interest is waning, Forza's are great but super niche.
It's been bad.

Going forward it looks more like

  • 343 Industries (Halo Infinite will be a launch title)
  • Rare (Sea of Thieves continues + other teams get to do projects)
  • The Coalition (Gears 6 will come at some point, but growing sense they will be like Guerrilla Games for Sony and get a chance at a new IP)
  • Turn 10 (Forza Motorsport)
  • Playground Games [now 1st party] (Forza Horizon for 1 team, but their new 2nd team is making a AAA Open World RPG...which is reportedly a new Fable)

with the new studios they've acquired since the launch of this Gen...

  • The Initiative (Brand-New “AAAA” studio...seems like it will be a 3rd person action title)
  • Ninja Theory (Multi-team, high end AAA)
  • Obsidian (Multi-team, AA to AAA RPGs)
  • Compulsion Games (Mid level action story games)
  • Double Fine (Multiple teams & genres...all in that AA tier)
  • inXile Entertainment (Mid Level RPGs)
  • Undead Labs (State of Decay team)
  • Mojang (Minecraft and the spin-offs...everyone gets these...but they print money that helps the rest ha )

Those teams need to land. But there should be an equal number of 1st party exclusives this gen, it won't be such a laughable difference.

Looking at the specs it seems like it will be a continuation of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X more or less.
Xbox will have a power advantage, Multiplats will perform the best there again most likely.
But playstation's install base and more global brand loyalty will continue to push them with some highly anticipated sequels.

Service-wise, Xbox seems to be leading way in front on services. They likely will be bundling GamePass in with every console, at the start. Which has been terrific.
I'm kinda mad Sony botched this back-compat already. All games you can play on Xbox One (including the 360 and OG xbox games) are coming day 1. And like with the series X will see boosts from the console. They showed off that the Series X will be adding HDR range + get games to 4k fps with no effort on devs like with the X.
Contrast to that Sony will only have around "the top 100 ps4 games"
