He want a mega deal and I wouldnt want to pay him that much. He is 0k as a pass rusher not amazing. He has an injury history. If he was going to play for 12 million per year I'd give a late first or 2nd and change. I think you are either undervaluing him as a player or don’t appreciate how much of a bargain that would be. I would happily give up much more than that at 12 mil AAV. Definitely. I mean, Melvin Ingram makes 16m/yr. So yeah, I think he's definitely not understanding where the market value is at the edge rusher spot (and that's not a knock on Ingram). Olivier Vernon makes 17M/yr and that contract is a couple of years old. Trey Flowers 18/m. Preston Smith now makes 13m/yr.

If he were elite as a pass rusher I'd change my tune. Also it has to do with situation we are in inclement with two strong edge guys who we are paying a lot of money too. JaguarCrazy2832
I know he is much more highly touted than other guys I’m referring to but doesn’t he benefit greatly from having Watt? I know JJ was pretty much out 2 of the last 3 years but given JCs injuries too, the money and playing 2nd to Watt is there any concern he is a bit overrated. Still worth a 1st and mid rounder but its not like he’s Khalil Mack

As you said definitely not on a Khalil Mack, Von Miller, JJ Watt etc... elite level.

CP3MVP
So I would have to give up a 1 and pay him 20 million dollars a year?

I'm not sure how you can value this sort of trade. The value of draft picks is that you get young players at cheap contracts. Not saying he isn't a really good player. But if you trade for him all you are getting for your pick is the chance to sign a free agent to a second contract at market rate. Unless Clowney gives you a discount then you aren't really getting anything for your pick at all. There was someone posting saying they (Packers) would give their 30th for him. In reality you are maybe giving up all of the following The 30th overall pick Kenny Clark Probably another decent free agent Doesn't look such a good deal now. I wouldn't give up a top pick in a trade unless you were getting a player with a couple of years rookie contract left or you were getting a discount in negotiations (unlikely) or its for a QB.
