1[21]: Darnell Savage [S; Maryland]

No joke, the actor who played Jim Lahey, John Dunsworth, babysat me a couple times when I was a little kid in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My parents were actors there. If you haven't seen it, this video gives you an idea what kind of guy he was beyond the trailer park.

And just so this post isn't totally off-topic, I am down with the Savage pick. The fact that Gute took a risk on this kid makes him even more exciting.

Oh. Well, IMHO there's a difference between an accent ask/axe and grammatical errors, i.e., I should of gone, instead of I should have gone. I used to give my students two typos/grammatical errors before returning their papers for revision. I never questioned their accents in class.

Carlos Mencia in his Not Easily Offended special has a bit entitled "So we lower the standard".

While as a society we've matured past Mencia, this reminds me of what you're describing.

I would have never guessed you liked that show ;)

RIP Lahey. I was him for Halloween once. Good times.

He lives on through the cartoon.

Savage is going to be great and if he lives up to his potential he will be a cartoon character as well.

Cool info, probably my favorite pic. If this kid hits it changes the entire defense. Guys can go for it knowing he have that help behind them. Pulling for this kid. Go Pack.

I think Mitch might have some Cutler in him if we can get after his butt with a furious rush.  Potential playmakers in that secondary of ours this year!

Yup. The joke (Haha) is on the bears.

puff piece from packers.com

https://www.packers.com/news/darnell-savage-wants-to-learn-it-all

"It was an off-the-cuff remark that wasn’t said in an arrogant or braggadocious manner. But it reflected how safety Darnell Savage sees his game a little differently than some outside observers. Asked after his first Packers rookie minicamp practice last week what he brings to Green Bay’s defense, Savage easily could have pointed to his 4.36 speed and its impact on the field.

Instead, he said, “My brain is what really stands out.”
