Savage is a S/nickel combo built exactly like Collins was. Nick used his closing speed to make turnover plays not hits. I don't see the Sanders comp personally. That's a gross oversimplification of what Sanders was, and I KNOW you KNOW that. Sanders played less than 3 full seasons (of total games) in the NFL and he had 13 PDs and 6 INTs. Often playing hurt. To each his own. I couldn't see your comp if I squinted to be completely honest. Edited April 26, 2019 by Cadmus

I'm not particularly happy with this pick. The lack of production and his shoulder really concern me. He's a huge boom or bust prospect, a bit of a project if you will. math checks 13 + 25 + 62 = 100

Lodestar
Savage was literally the first player I read about when I started researching this year’s draft. Obviously he was considered a mid round pick back then, but he struck me as an incredibly promising prospect. Surprising pick, but a fun one. The Seahawks had the Legion of Boom, lost Richard Sherman and then Earl Thomas, and instead of drafting Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage, they gained a 3rd round pick and two fourth round picks. Damn.

The Ravens immediately traded out once the Packers made this pick though, so maybe they were going to take a home town college player. So maybe he wouldn't have made it to 30. MacReady
The last time the Ravens wanted a safety we drafted we got Nick Collins.
