CB Deandre Baker selected by Giants @ 1.30

Not a bad pick, but I don't see the reason to trade up for him when there are so many corners left available for you in about 8 picks.

Thinking the same thing. Just coughed up 2 picks to move up when not needed. And they took baker over williams and murphy??? Im not really understanding

Its because Baker can actually cover and doesn’t get bullied by smaller receivers. He’s also the best Corner in the class and the Murphy/Greedy aren’t even 2/3. 

If it wasn’t for Baker having terrible interviews, he would have been a top 20 Pick.

Seems Giants picked someone after I went to:sleep.

I know nothing about the player, but we can get him on the 5th year option now. We had 12 picks, I’m not concerned about using one of the last picks in the 4th round and a 5th rounder.

I wasn't crazy about any of the corners in this draft, but if you go strictly by film, Baker is the best one. He played against the best competition college football had to offer and over the past 2 years he had more PDs and INTs combined than catches allowed and allowed 0 touchdowns. Lots of young guys in the CB room, but there is a ton of talent there. Baker, Sam Beal, Jackrabbit, and Grant Haley. I wouldn't sleep on Tony Lippett either. He can play.

I liked this trade up. Go get the top CB on your board and get his fifth year of control. Stabilizes that position after major question marks going into the draft.
