2[44]: Elgton Jenkins [OC; Miss State]

Ideal scenario is for him to get the first few weeks of his rookie season to keep getting stronger and more sure of his responsibilities. Then be the first guy off the bench. If a tackle goes down, Turner moves over and Jenkins slides into guard. If a guard or center goes down, Jenkins fills that spot.

Pretty sure he’s gonna have to start a handful of games this year.

Stenovich has been working Jenkins at OG first, with few reps at Center in mini camp.
Makes sense because Elgton's not beating out Linsley, while he has at least some chance to unseat Lane Taylor.
GB has Lucas Patrick, McCray and Madison spending more time at Center per those same reports.
The Taylor-Jenkins battle should be interesting and while Taylor doesn't have the advantage of being in the offense longer - he does know how to fight for a position as a Pro

If it's close I'd go with Jenkins over Taylor .. he's the future, cheaper, and has more upside.  Taylor may also have trade value if he loses out.

I'd wait a year.  Should Jenkins, Bulaga (forcing Turner to RT) or Turner get hurt during the season, the drop-off seems fairly significant to Madison or McCray.

When we cut Sitton Lane Taylor was on the Packers for 3 years before suddenly being thrusted into the starting lineup. At the time that was considered a big drop off but in reality there was nothing to be worried about.

If we cut Taylor then someone like Patrick or Pankey who has been on the Packers for just as long they should be able to fill in the same way Taylor did 3 years ago. Even if there was a drop off he will be surrounded by experienced OL who will help them out.

The drop off from Sittons last year with us to Taylor was like 6 sacks and 15 pressures. The reason that move worked was that Sitton got hurt that year. There was a clear downgrade from elite to average at LG .
