If Jenkins comes in and wins a G spot(pun intended) I'll be okay with this pick. Just as @AlexGreen#20 put it though, I wish we weren't trying to replace a pretty decent/average guard with the 44th pick in the draft. Thing is Taylor hardly performed like even an average guard last season. Guys like Lucas Patrick, Barclay etc really have no business sniffing the starting lineup and that’s where we’ve been for years. Gute clearly sees this as a major problem the way I have and now we’re much better off there.

Is he replaceable? Well sure. Would I use the 44th pick in the draft, with loads of talent on the board to replace him? No.

I think TJ Lang set the standard of playing injured at a high level, and now all other guards are punished in not meeting our expectation. firstplace
My thought was to move Brian B. Inside to guard and draft a tackle. That could possibly keep BB healthy for his last year. Now what do you do if David B goes down?

firstplace
I would think the guard position would be better for Brian B. Not fighting the likes of Mack or Barr. I may be wrong. Edited April 27, 2019 by firstplace

But a guy with a knee injury history is more prone to injury at G than tackle. Personally I thought Dillard was our guy at 21.

Power to the right and watch defenses try to cope.

pgwingman
You guys keep mentioning Jenkins is a better fit for what Lafluer wants to do on the line. Can you explain that a little more? What can Jenkins do for us that we don't already have on the roster?
