With the 50th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Irv Smith Jr., TE - Alabama

Smith will help the running game more than Rudolph, as he can run block adequately, and he's got good speed and runs patterns, excellently.  So, The Vikings should have more options with him in the lineup, and, thus, be harder foe opposing defences to defend.  Maybe Rudolph won't be kept.  That could mean a nice chunk of cap space to use where it's needed more.

Love this pick. A future replacement was needed for Rudolph.

Do we absolutely have to cut Rudolph to get some cap relief or can we restructure him a little? I know he has been on record saying he's willing to help the team.

Very happy with this draft so far

Drafting a TE in the 2nd round probably rules out any restructure, as the team likely won’t want to commit any more years to Rudolph.
