Boykin's size, length and athleticism offers exciting potential as an outside receiver with mismatch potential, but he will have to learn how to counter press, improve his routes and become more competitive when the ball is in the air. His size won't matter if he doesn't learn to impose it on others. If that happens, he'll become an eventual starter with a high ceiling. coordinator0 Posted April 27, 2019 Share Posted April 27, 2019 For the combine junkies, Boykin tied with Emanuel Hall for the best vertical jump at 43.5 inches, was second behind Hall (141 inches) in the broad jump with 140 inches, and first in the 3-cone drill with a 6.77 second time. That's insane for a dude his size. Third in the 20 yard shuttle too. Only 9th in the 40 with a 4.42, but there was some serious speed at the top this year. DreamKid Posted April 27, 2019 Share Posted April 27, 2019 Most likely going to bust. Trash breakout age, and unlike Hollywood he doesn't have an excuse. No prolific offense or JUCO history for him. Dude redshirted 2015 and it still took him 2 years after to reach a season over 300 yards. That is a horrible sign. Support him, but don't get your hopes up. coordinator0 Posted April 27, 2019 Share Posted April 27, 2019 I also want to say that the Ravens absolutely need guys that can win their 1-on-1 matchups at the skill positions. Especially on the outside. It's more important now with Lamar coming up than ever before. He has the safety blankets. The tight ends and Snead fill that role more than adequately. Get him some guys that strike fear in secondaries. Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin are definitely that. It didn't seem like Boykin would have been a guy all that high on Baltimore's board, but it makes sense. This wide receiver group is exciting now. And we'll still probably get to see more snaps for Chris Moore early on while the rookies earn their snaps. Well, mostly Boykin. Brown is getting on the field. diamondbull424 Posted April 27, 2019 Share Posted April 27, 2019 Looking at Boykin’s tape against Vanderbilt. He’s a very active blocker with nice physicality and grit. Has to be one of the best blocking receivers in this class. I see a big guy with very slippery movement skills. His hands seem natural. What I don’t like is that he doesn’t have ideal body control nor the physicality you look for out of a big receiver when it comes to the catch point. He also didn’t show great route running. Lastly athleticism does show up on tape. Very fluid and natural mover with legit 4.4 speed on the field.
