Justone2
Honestly don't mind drafting a punter in the 4th if you have all starters and important rotation pieces filled in. I think with the secondary they want to give the young guys they picked more time to develop.

Sometimes it won't. At least we traded back this time.
gridirongorilla
Question: was Dekoda Watson going to be cut? If so is it still bad to trade him and a 6th to make sure they got the best punter in the draft?

We traded back in the fourth to get the punter - the Watson trade gave us a fifth round pick. But Watson is largely a special teams standout type player. Never hurts to have him on the team, but defensively he's not great (though he's had some nice moments). His role can largely be filled by late round fodder who excels on special teams, to be honest. We traded back to this pick for 2 6ths and then used one of the four 6ths we had to trade with Watson for a 5th.

Aussie9er
Only been punting for 4 years or so was on track to play professional Aussie rules footballer so been kicking a ball all his life just not punting until shoulder injuries took away that chance and decided to change careers to punting. If he ever needs to lay a tackle as a punter he will.
Madridista
LMAOOOOO This FO seriously cannot make a good move without countering it with something utterly stupid
Geek
If Wish ends up being our punter for the next decade then I really don't see this as a bad pick. Who cares if he's 27 years old, he's a punter. If nothing else it's a great pick for the laughs. That said if he doesn't preform at a high level this season im going to flame Lynch for this pick.
uk9erfan
We could pick Jaquan Johnson with our next pick. That's my uneducated guess.
J-ALL-DAY
Imagine being this excited taking a punter in the 4th round…. Couldn't be me. Congrats to him though, big moment for him.

N4L
I consider myself the punter aficionado around here considering how much easier it is to see the ball fly in the air and how it spins in person. If nothing else this will make the preseason exciting. @Aussie9er so would he be able to cover kickoffs? Or is that too much to ask?
Melbourne 9er
Well it is interesting that the Pats took a punter in the 5th and at the time we didn't have a 5th. So for all those that said we could have had him later..................
