It's really nice to see that we don't have the positional weak-areas, depth included, that we generally have.  Looking at each group, it's difficult to see a spot where we are really weak.  I think there are some question marks, such as we have on 2-3 spots on the OL.  But no definitive glaring weaknesses.

It will be interesting to see how long Duke will be willing to ride out his hardline absence.  If something were to happen with that spot, we would be lacking at RB depth the first half of the season.  So much can happen in half a season that it would be best for both sides to come to an understanding on this season with the understanding that he will be done right going into 2020 if he's still unhappy in his role.

Now for the long wait until September.

This is the first time in Browns history that the roster is very deep and it will be difficult for some real NFL players to make the roster.

Also, I suspect Dorsey is not done and will make final adjustments in Aug before deadline.

I agree with 99% of your predictions @Mind Character

The only things I disagree with are Avery and the 3rd string QB. I think Avery converts to full time DL. I think David Blough beats out Gilbert as a “pet project.”

I should've stated it in the OP, but I really intended that posting of guys on the roster to be more of a keeping track roster tracker as opposed to my 53 roster predictions. I didnt get around to adding the UDFAs yet but will later.

But I agree with you that Avery should convert to full time edge rusher but a few interviews from Eliot Wolf this offseason make me believe they see him as a SLB with edge rush elite versatility. Maybe that's changed with the draft, or he wasnt giving a true account of coaches/personnel execs thoughts on the matter. Even still, with Vernon here it's going to be hard to keep him off the field, and I only think Avery sees the field as an edge end situationally when Myles kicks inside on 3rd or situational rushing downs (or to give Vernon a break).

As much as people dont like it for whatever reason I think they see Chad Thomas providing situational run stuffing and edge setting on early downs. So, it is likely that therd will be more snaps available for Avery to get on the field as a LB.

I know absolutely nothing about Blough. Do you think he makes it because he's better or because you dont believe in Gilbert?

Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Blough was an excellent college QB. Tough as nails and deadly accurate. He's an ideal backup but does not have a very high ceiling nor does he have good physical traits. I think it'll come down to upside (Gilbert) or reliability (Blough).

Something we didn't address on the draft and I can see hurting down the stretch is the lack of depth at DT.  We lose somebody like Vernon or Garrett for a period of time to injury, I think we can be kinda okay with Smith and Avery doing some pass rush.  I don't see really much behind Ogunjobi and Richardson that makes me sleep easier at night.  And those guys behind them have to get a piece of the action even if we are healthy.

Idk, maybe I don't give Coley enough credit, he has stuck around.  I don't think he has really made an impact though.

Dorsey might have his eye on a few cut candidates and will likely sign a guy now that they won't count against compensatory picks.

I'm not concerned. People are freaking out about what happens if our starters get hurt. No team has great depth everywhere. Our team is stacked and if there is an injury, we can always trade picks to acquire someone at the deadline.

Plus there’s still some good free agents out there. I’m not worried about it. Every year it seems like some UDFAs no one has ever heard of joins teams mid camp and still make an impact.

Myles can kick inside on passing downs, as can Chris Smith and Chad Thomas too.

Obviously they like Coley and perhaps Price.

I agree it would have been nice to grab someone, but I think they’ll be Ok.

A name that I still hear that just wont go away.... Tre Boston.  Lets see if it happens.  That would make our secondary one of the deepest in the league.  Like someone else mentioned, depth on the front 4 is a concern.  As for starters, LB is our weakest unit I think on defense.

Coley also wasnt healthy all season. The dude got a high ankle sprain 2weeks before the season started and was playing week1. No way that thing was healed or go healed over the season
