I will also believe legends should go out on their backs to help put over the next generation.

Engh.  I hate equivocating on this, but it really depends.  In general, I agree, but this is one of those situations where I think Cornette gets it right.  Unless there is really something to gain (like cementing a guy into main event status) by them going over a legend in their last match, some legends/lore just deserve to go out untarnished.  The Streak, for instance, honestly shouldn't have been broken unless it was by some supernatural means (and even that I'd have had issues with), which just isn't going to sell nowadays (well, it would if there was consistency kept with it like Lucha Underground did, but that was never happening in WWE).  Brock really didn't gain anything worth ending the streak for.  I don't even want to bring up Corbin's retirement of Angle, but I feel like I have to because it legitimately has achieved nothing but getting the guy X-Pac heat.

Another example, since it seems to be timely that they're talking trying to somehow (wires and cables, maybe?) getting another WM match out of Hogan.  If that happens, Hogan absolutely goes over because you gain nothing beating a guy who can barely work even if he is a legend.  He can't work well enough to sell a proper squash job and you ultimately lose more than you gain.

Tanahashi was the right guy to retire Liger in the same way that Shawn was the right guy to retire (if he'd have stayed that way and not popped up in TNA months later) Flair and Taker was the right guy to retire Shawn.

@The LBC, I understand what you are saying but most of that come down to bad book after the fact. If Angle is standing there saying he wants to put over Corbin because he believes in him as a top heel and management nods their heads and says yea lets do it, we will have him win king of the ring! Angle probably hears that and feels good about it... then we get Corbin pouring dog food on Roman Reigns...

Except we both know that's not the case... or if it was, it was Kurt half-heartedly toeing the company line because Kurt's always been a company guy (whichever company he was in at the time).  Vince has been the one popping the Viagra for Corbin because he has "the look."  That Corbin's been back and forth between both shows and the scripting hasn't changed for him tells me that someone at the top of the food chain is the one telling him what they think he should be saying.  And Corbin's a good soldier - not to mention, whose really going to say, "Nah, I'm good.  I don't want that prominent spot." Also, when the booking for Angle's retirement... um... angle was taking place, bringing back King of the Ring wasn't even in discussion per Dave and Brian and several sources.  They only brought back KotR after Harley Race's death.  By and large, Vince is renown to hate tournaments, which was why it was scrapped in the first place.

That's a great deal for Scurll. I would have loved it to see him come to AEW, but it just makes sense for him to stay in ROH and take this chance. If he has the freedom he's supposed to have and is integrated as a booker, who knows what comes around for him. I heard he would like to start a relationship or strengthen the relationship of ROH with NJPW, NWA and AEW. We'll see what happens.

Also another big story just popped up. TNT and AEW extended their TV deal until 2023 and the most interesting fact of the statement is the 2nd TV show that was mentioned. TNT seems to be very satisfied. Rightfully so, as the ratings are better than expected. I just hope it's going to be Dark, that gets put on TV. I wouldn't like to keep Dark and get an additional 3rd show, as then i fear it might be to much wrestling on a weekly basis.

Here the news:

I'd like to see the conditions through. As i said i think TNT can be very satisfied with the ratings, so i think they got a good deal. Hopefully good enough to stay on healthy feets. A 2nd weekly will also help AEW putting out new talent. Some of them already could be used a little bit more, so it would be nice for them to get more exposure on a 2nd show, which is especially very good for the younger guys to gain more experience. Then they can also extend their roster, without a fear, that someone is buried under the masses. Some speculationes were circulating around, like Brian Cage, who was mentioned above or guys like Ryback or younger wrestlers like Chris Bey.

It going to be an exciting future.

Our Dave Meltzer is reporting the deal is for four years and $175 million, just under $45 million per year, and includes TNT having an option for 2024 at a significantly increased price.

cage is a great get, not your average big muscle ryback lookin loser. big part of lucha underground and prolly one of the reasons keith lee has made it this far imo.

Another great AEW show.  Man, WWE could learn a thing or two.

yeah they're learning quickly how to pace a show well. there isn't anyone on the show without a purpose/context. the only thing i find myself groaning at is nightmare collective and i understand they've maybe got some long term plans there but jesus it's bad

well Brandi cant wrestle and Mel is green AF and Kharma is a part timer it seems.

Their women's division sucks. Britt Baker is servicable, Nyla is a one trick pony, Riho is a novelty IMO, and Statlander is good with a ton of potential who has the worst gimmick that will hold her back. The only woman worth a damn as is is Shida but they dont book her as they should. She should be in Riho's spot except Kenny Omega likes em young.

kris statlander is one of the hottest wrestlers in pro wrestling, the gimmick isn't holding anything back. there is nothing holding her back. the girl has been wrestling for less than 3 years and had never watched wrestling before she started training. for anyone to doubt her at this point is laughable. guess it goes without saying, but i love the gimmick and beyond her whackass botches last night, love her in the ring.

i have no issue with the women's division personally. the 4 way match a couple weeks back was good if poorly planned, even. the women don't need 5 star matches or anything, just actual thought. shanna and rose has been interesting but relegated to their youtube show. statlander blowing up had a ton of buzz before she took the bar wrestling date.

there's been no consistent booking in the women's division. priestley/baker had a ton of heat and they let it die down. none of the women's wrestlers have any consistent context beyond nightmare collective. riho wasn't on tv for what felt like months. sakura is the one with the gimmick that will hold her back lol... and she got consistent booking.

perhaps janela will have a female partner and that will elevate another girl cause this sabian/janela program is gonna be money. ain't no drama like real life drama.

britt baker is awful. nyla is whatever. riho is a usable piece, but yeah not a chick that should be the face of the division. statlander is one of the best women out there, but yeah i can't believe how awful her character is. it's not fun it's just corny. shida is like decent. shanna is decent to bad. emi sakura is the worst. big swole is usable but she's pretty unrefined. bea priestly is decent to bad. their best woman is jamie hayter if they're ever gonna use her again. '

should be hayter, statlander, riho at the top of the division. with shida, nyla, priestly and swole in the tier below them. imo.

no doubt about it that nxt has the better women's roster. it's the only thing facet i'd take in nxt over aew personally. but also think it just needs better booking. aew has already improved on other things quickly since their tv debut though so maybe it's coming soon. totally agree that riho doesn't make sense as the face of the division, tho.

i got the feeling in a year, ya'll will have a different tune about statlander's gimmick.
